    摘要： A sole for an article of footwear comprising a midsole having a plurality of polygonal-shaped openings, or cavities, therein. In alternative embodiments, the sole includes reinforcement elements such as a plate disposed along at least a portion of one of the surfaces of the midsole. The plate includes at least one polygonal-shaped extension adapted to fit within at least a portion of at least one of the polygonal-shaped openings within the midsole. Additionally, a polyurethane film is disposed on at least a portion of the bottom surface of the midsole. The shoe also includes an outsole disposed on at least a portion of a bottom surface of the polyurethane film, wherein the outsole comprises a plurality of polygonal-shaped openings aligned with the polygonal-shaped openings of the midsole.

The article of footwear also includes a inflation mechanism for selectively introducing air to the chambers. The inflation mechanism is located under the foot of the wearer to be activated by the normal action of the wearer.

    摘要： Shoe uppers having smooth seams and methods for producing them are disclosed. In one embodiment the upper uses thermoplastic seam tape which forms bonds between contiguous upper sections after being subjected to heat and/or pressure. In another embodiment, different parts of the shoe can be joined using hidden seams. Close seams can also be covered with a transfer material adapted to give the interior and/or exterior of the upper a smooth surface. In yet another embodiment, a method is disclosed which allows three-dimensional upper sections to be bonded on a last using thermoplastic seam tape.

    摘要： A cushioning member for an article of footwear. The cushioning member is a flexible bladder having a fluidly interconnected heel chamber and forefoot chamber. The bladder is disposed above the sole and beneath the wearer's foot to provided added cushioning to the wearer. The bladder contains air at slightly above ambient pressure and can be formed by thermoforming or by welding two sheets of resilient, flexible material together. A connecting passage fluidly connects the heel chamber and the forefoot chamber. The connecting passage is narrow to control the flow of air between the two chambers.
