摘要: A float is moved upwardly or downwardly by liquid being added to a liquid holding tank. The float carries a first permanent magnet which is moved by the float towards a second magnet which is separated therefrom by a liquid tight partition. The permanent magnets are arranged with like poles directed towards each other so that the permanent magnets will repel each other and movement of the first permanent magnet in response to a liquid level change will cause the second permanent magnet to be moved in response to the repelling force. The second permanent magnet is positioned in line with a depressable control member of a normally closed valve in a gas line. Movement of the second permanent magnet against such control member depresses the control member to open the valve, allowing gas to flow from a storage tank to a piston in a normally closed valve that is located in a second line leading from the gas supply to a horn. The gas pressure moves piston to open the valve and allow a flow of gas to operate the horn.

摘要: A flow controller having a first and second stages of regulation. The first stage is a pressure regulation stage that maintains the pressure within an intermediate chamber (formed by a series of interconnected passageways and cavities) within a predetermined range above the pressure in an outlet port. The second stage maintains the flow rate within a predetermined range about a target flow rate. Both stages sample the pressure in the outlet port and automatically adjust the flow of fluid to ensure that fluctuations in pressure at the inlet and outlet ports do not affect the flow rate. The flow rate is set and controlled by a user determined setpoint. The pressure is regulated by one or more feedback systems. The feedback systems used may be mechanical or electromechanical based on a particular operating environment.

摘要: A constant flow valve for low flow rates employs a tire valve assembly which is threadably received within the downstream end portion of an axial passageway formed in an elongated inlet tube. The tube is received within a stem portion of a first part of an internal housing. A movable wall which is at its periphery clamped between a base portion of such first part and a bell portion of the second part, divides the interior of said housing into upstream and downstream chambers. The stem portion of the tire valve assembly extends into the upstream chamber and contacts the movable wall. A biasing spring is located in the downstream chamber and exerts a biasing force against the movable wall which is in turn transmitted to the control stem. A considerable length of relatively small internal diameter, high flow resistance tubing is coiled about the inlet tube and the stem portion of the first housing part. The upstream end of the tubing communicates with the upstream chamber and the downstream end of the tubing communicates with the downstream chamber. The tubing performs the dual functions of a pressure reducing restriction between the two chambers and a flow rate averager. An external casing surrounds the coil of tubing and at least portions of the inlet tube and the internal housing and a plastic filler material is provided in the exterior casing about the components enclosed thereby. An outlet passageway leads outwardly from the downstream chamber to an outlet fitting.

摘要: A flow meter system that calculates mass flow rate based only on a single pressure signal. A flow controller is arranged in parallel with a restriction such that it constant pressure differential is maintained across the restriction. The pressure, and temperature if not controlled, of the fluid flowing through the restriction is measured on either side of the restriction. The pressure is compared to a plot of pressure versus mass flow rate calculated for the specific restriction and fluid being measured. The constant pressure differential maintained across the restriction yields a linear relationship between pressure and flow rate. If temperature is not controlled, the plot or pressure versus mass flow rate will remain linear, but the slope of the curve will be adjusted based on the temperature of the fluid.

摘要: A system for propelling a watercraft using hydrogen. The system comprises a combustion chamber, an accumulator system, an ignition system, and a propulsion control system. The combustion chamber defines an upper portion and a lower portion. The accumulator system stores pressurized fluid. A first check valve is arranged to allow water to flow from the exterior of the watercraft into the lower portion of the combustion chamber. A second check valve is arranged to allow water to flow from the lower portion of the combustion chamber to the accumulator system. A propulsion control valve is arranged to control the flow of water from the accumulator system to the exterior of the watercraft. A mixture of hydrogen and oxygen is introduced into the upper portion of the combustion chamber. An ignition system for igniting the mixture of hydrogen and oxygen in the combustion chamber to create expanding gases that force the water in the lower portion of the combustion chamber into the accumulator system through the second check valve. The propulsion control system operates the propulsion control valve to allow water in the accumulator system to flow to the exterior of the watercraft at a desired flow rate.

摘要: A cup-shaped elastomeric diaphragm is snugly fitted onto an end portion of a support member which includes internal gas delivery and return passageways. A plurality of ports extend both radially and axially from the gas delivery passageway towards the diaphragm. A like number of identical gas return ports extend from another region of the diaphragm inwardly to the gas return passageway. A gas tight seal is provided between the diaphragm and the support member above the ports. In use the outer surface of the diaphragm is subjected to a pressure to be measured, e.g. subsurface hydrostatic pressure. A gas is delivered into the delivery passageway and through the sensor at a constant flow rate. The gas pressure expands the diaphragm in the regions of the ports to complete gas flow paths from the gas delivery ports to the gas return ports. The magnitude of the pressure to be measured acting on the diaphragm determines the gas pressure that is necessary to drive the gas through the sensor at a constant flow rate. The driving pressure of the gas is measured and is used to determine the magnitude of the pressure that is being measured.
