Abstract:
Dehydration catalysts for vicinal diols prepared by forming an intimate mixture of finely divided solid particles of at least one pyrophosphate and at least one acid orthophosphate of at least one metal belonging to the group consisting of lithium, sodium, strontium and barium into a formed mass which is thereafter calcined to transform the acid orthophosphate into pyrophosphate resulting in a catalyst having superior mechanical properties.
Abstract:
Diol dehydration catalysts and methods of preparing and using the same, constituted at least in part of a pyrophosphate of at least one metal belonging to the group consisting of lithium, sodium, strontium, and barium and possibly of at least one orthophosphate of said metals and including chromium in combined form and/or a basic additive.
Abstract:
A COPOLYMER WITH TWO SEQUENCES OF RECURRING UNITS IS PRODUCED BY FIRST FORMING A HOMOPOLYMER WITH A BENZENE RING AT ONE OF ITS ENDS, THEN EFFECTING CHLOROMETHYLATION OF THE BENZENE RING AND FINALLY EFFECTING CATIONIC GRAFTING OF A MONOMER ONTO THE CHLOROMETHYL GROUP OF THE HOMOPOLYMER.
Abstract:
A METHOD OF TREATING MOLECULAR SIEVES HAS BEEN PROVIDED WHEREBY THE POLYMERIZING AND ISOMERIZING PROPERTIES OF THE SIEVES ARE SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCED. ACCORDING TO THIS METHOD, THE SIEVES ARE FIRST CONTACTED WITH A MIXTURE CONTAINING AT LEAST ONE DIOLEFIN WITH CONJUGATED DOUBLE BONDS UNDER CONDITIONS IN WHICH A PART OF THE DIOLEFIN IS POLYMERIZED ONTO THE SURFACES OF THE MOLECULAR SIEVES AND THEN THE THUS TREATED SIEVES ARE CONTACTED WITH AN OLEFIN WHICH IS SOUGHT TO BE PURIFIED.
