    摘要: A needle package having a sealed outer pouch made of a first material, which is permeable to a sterilizing gas but that is impenetrable to microbes and an inner pouch filled with needles, and made of a second material, which is tough and flexible. Also, an intermediate holder, holding the inner pouch, is sealed within the outer pouch, the intermediate holder being made of a third material having greater rigidity than the second material, and defining an interior volume. Further, sterile surgical needles are held within the inner pouch and the intermediate holder constrains the inner pouch to the interior volume, thereby restricting freedom of movement of the needles to reduce needle repositioning during shipment.

    摘要: A method of effecting a tendon repair in a patient comprising providing a suture tape, using the suture tape to connect tendon tissue to bone of the patient such that the suture tape lays flat on the tendon, and permitting ingrowth of the tendon tissue into the suture tape as the absorbable fibers are absorbed into the patient's tissue. The suture tape is a flat braid of elastic, absorbable fibers and high strength fibers, the tape being at least 1 mm wide and 2 cm long, and less than 1 mm high. The suture tape includes at least 4 absorbable fibers and at least 4 high strength fibers. Further, the suture tape is capable of being stretched at least 10% from its shortest length to the length at which it breaks and is capable of withstanding a load of at least 260 Newtons before breaking.

    摘要: A suture anchor assembly, adapted to be attached to a bone, that includes an anchor, which has an undeployed state in which it is soft and flexible, and which can be deployed into a deployed state which is compacted and hard, relative to the undeployed state, and defining a hold region, where the anchor is optimally held as the anchor is deployed. Also, one or more deployment strands are engaged into the anchor and extend out of the anchor, and wherein, when the anchor is in the undeployed state, holding the anchor at the hold region and pulling on the deployment strands compacts the anchor into the deployed state. Accordingly, the anchor can be introduced into a hole in bone and held in place at the hold region, as it is transformed into the deployed state by pulling on the deployment strands, thereby anchoring the anchor in the hole.

    摘要: A method of anchoring a suture into a pilot hole in bone utilizing a suture anchor. A lumen-defining circular soft wall, having a first and second end, is slidably engaged to a piece of suture, a first length of which extends from the first end of the wall and is threaded through the lumen from the second end, and a second length of which extends from the second end and is threaded through the lumen from the first end. The suture anchor is introduced into the pilot hole so that the first length and second length of suture material extend out of the pilot hole. The first length and second length are pulled on alternately, thereby permitting the suture anchor structure to slide on the piece of suture material, and to be compacted evenly by the pulling, until the suture anchor is set in the pilot hole.

    摘要: A method of forming a suture tape assembly having a visually distinguishable midpoint includes weaving a longitudinally central portion of a length of round suture material together with other strands of material to form a length of suture tape. This suture tape has a longitudinal first end and a longitudinal second end, and the length of round suture material extends from both the first end and second end. Next, a center part of the length of the round suture material is grasped and pulled outwardly from the suture tape, to form a partial loop extending outwardly from the suture tape. This partial loop is cut from the suture tape, thereby leaving a longitudinally medial segment of the suture tape without the round suture material, and thereby being made visibly distinguishable from neighboring suture tape, which includes the round suture material.
