    摘要: An apparatus applies a wear coating on the interior surface of conduits, particularly conduit elbows, in which the weld head applying a weld bead forming the wear coating is supported by a wheel engaging the bottom surface of the conduit and interconnected with a push/pull cart mounted on a linear support frame exteriorly of the conduit by a plurality of linkage elements. Each of the head element and the linkage elements include a centralizing joint having a pair of transversely opposing rollers that engage the lateral sides of the conduit to maintain a consistent positioning of the welding arm at the distal end of the apparatus. The welding arm includes a three-axis adjustment for the welding torch tip for accurate location thereof within the conduit. Positional adjustment of the welding torch tip is provided by independent electric motors associated with each pivot axis in the welding arm.

    摘要: A composite reinforcing bar is formed from a series of inner rovings with first and second helical wrappings of at least one roving wrapped around the inner rovings in opposed directions of wrapping with the resin permeated therethrough. The bar structure is formed to allow torsional bending sufficient to allow the formed bar to be wound to form a coil of the bar wrapped a series of times around an axis at right angles to the length of the bar. The bar is forwarded into a rotating winding frame formed by a series of posts around a vertical rotation axis. The coil is held in place while the frame is removed for transporting the coil to a remote location. At the remote location the coil is placed in a similar winding frame and the bar is pulled from the coil and cut to a required length.

    摘要: The interior of a straight pipe is clad using a plurality of welding heads. The pipe is carried on support rollers including drive components for rotating the pipe about its axis while holding it fixed against axial movement. There are four welding heads with two carried on a cantilevered support arm of a respective one of a first and a second carriage mounted outside the pipe at opposite ends of the pipe and each movable in a direction longitudinally of the axis of the pipe. The heads are located on the arm at a common angular position at bottom dead center to weld vertically downwardly. The pipe support includes a pair of drive rollers arranged with their axes parallel to the axis of the pipe and adjustable in spacing to change the height of the pipe on the rollers relative to the welding heads.

    摘要: An apparatus for the detection of defects utilizing non-destructive flux leakage techniques in ferrous materials includes rare earth magnets which are supported at an angle in the order of 45 degrees with the surface of the test specimen to induce a magnetic field within the material. The angled arrangement draws the field into the specimen over a larger surface area, reducing reluctance and ensuring that the field does not shallow within the material. The device provides real-time, three dimensional, visual feedback to the user and includes built-in means for data storage and retrieval without the need for an external computer interface. A distance sensor is used to correct the signal from the sensor array for distance from the surface. A position analyzing device utilizes the magnetic field to determine the position of the apparatus along the surface of the test material, increasing the accuracy in position measurement during testing.

    摘要: Two transducers to be rotated around a circumferential location on a cylindrical body for structural testing of the body are carried on a mounting and drive apparatus including a magnetic attachment which can be manually brought up to a pipe from one side only for fixed connection to the pipe on that side at a position axially spaced from a weld. A collar shaped support for the pair of transducers is formed of a row of separate segments which wrap around the pipe from the one side and is rotated around the axis of the pipe to carry the transducer around the circumferential weld. The segments carry rollers to roll on the surface and are held against the pipe by magnets. The transducers are carried on the support in fixed angular position to track their position but in a manner which allows slight axial or radial movement relative to the pipe.
