Abstract:
An improved wind sail receptor for turning in a wind flow to turn an axle that operates a generator to produce an electrical power output for performing work. With the improved wind sail receptor blade design and the inclusion of a unique shape of nose cone fitted over a forward end of a housing that the wind sail receptor is journaled to, the wind sail receptor provides for a nearly one hundred percent utilization of the entering wind flow energy to turn the wind sail receptor blades. This near perfect wind energy utilization is provided by the structure of the blades leading and trailing edges along with the blades uniform curvature between leading and trailing edges that is from seventy to seventy eight degrees of arc and the nose cone configuration, whereby a turbulence free wind flow passed off of the blades trailing edge is at a approximately a forty five degree angle to the entering wind flow.
Abstract:
A process and method for retreading a heavy duty tire with a polyurethane tread where, after a tire carcass is inspected, cleaned and the worn tire tread is removed, the tire carcass receives a tube fitted therein and is installed in a mold cavity, between top and bottom mold rings. The mold rings each include spaced segments that inter-digitate and will form equal spaced tread voids in a finished recapped tire. The bottom mold ring inner edge top includes a continuous sealing lug, and the top ring is open to pass a flow of polyurethane materials, that is received off of a lower edge of a cone shaped spreader positioned onto the tire carcass top side wall and slides, as a sheet, into the mold, filling the mold cavity from bottom to top, forcing air from the mold ahead of the fill and forming the recapped tire tread.

A method of manufacturing a rim for a bicycle wheel includes wrapping plys of fibers in a resin matrix around a mandrel; curing the plys to form the rim; and reducing a size of the mandrel to allow the mandrel to be removed from the rim.
Abstract:
A vacuum forming process for manufacturing a transport tire from an elastomeric material that include steps of: in a mold having a cavity or annular area, positioning a transport tire core of plies, belt and beads that has been laid-up on a mandrel. Fitting a cover in sealing engagement over the mold top and fitting a cylindrical canister, that is open at a top end, through the center of the cover and into the mold center and pouring an elastomeric material mixture into the canister that includes a needle valve in its lower end that exhausts into one end of the mold annular area. Abstract:
A method and apparatus for forming a core of plies, belts and beads and for positioning the core in a mold for forming an elastomeric tire. The core is built up on a mandrel of the inner mold that is formed from hard foam core segments positioned between top and bottom hub plates, around a center hub that includes flow passages formed therethrough and through the hub plates. Plies for building the core are formed as a woven sleeve for passage along an expander cone and over the mandrel whereon a separator has been positioned, and a bead is passed over each sleeve end that receives a bead centering plate fitted through the sleeve, capturing the bead and positioning it on the mandrel side and provides for folding the plies end over the bead and up each mandrel side. Similarly, a belt or belts, formed as a weave of belt cords, is passed along an expander cone and onto the mandrel crown, with separators positioned between the mandrel, plies and belt or belts, and above a final belt, and a tire core is wound around the crown, from one side to the other.
Abstract:
A non-pneumatic tire and rim whereto the tire is fitted as a wheel assembly that will display ride characteristics that are similar to those of a conventional pneumatic tire. The non-pneumatic tire is preferably formed from a urethane foam in a spin casting process with the formed tire having a dense thread, with a less dense internal mid-section and is least dense at a lower area proximate to the tire inner circumference. Identical tire side wall grooves are formed in the tire side walls to receive and provide an interference fit with hook bead ends formed in top ends of sides of a U-shaped rim, with the rim further including upstanding ridges or piers formed along opposite edges of the rim web or wheel well that are to receive and maintain support grooves formed around the tire inner circumference sides supporting the tire inner circumference mid-section between the rim ridges or piers to allow the tire material to flex into an open area above the rim wheel well and below the tire inner circumference, which non-pneumatic tire flexure or flow into that open area occur in response to a compressive force being directed into the tire tread as the wheel rolls over a rock, into a hole, or the like, providing a tire ride that is like that of a pneumatic tire.
Abstract:
The invention in a shoe insert to be fitted into and maintained in a conventional walking or running shoe to provide support and cushioning to the foot of such shoe wearer. The shoe insert is to fit into a shoe to grip to the shoe insole and is manufactured from a vio-elastic polyperic material having a recovery or compression set less than two (2) percent providing a rapid rate of force dissipation to a shoe wearer that is equal to their rate of gait, with further cushioning provided by a selection and formation of cavities in the insert surface that is in engagement with a shoe insole. The cavities preferably consist of spaced dome and cylindrical shaped cavities, with the dome shaped cavities spaced apart and located over points of greatest anticipated stress concentrations as the shoe wearer experiences during walking or running, each to partially collapse, expanding outwardly within the polymeric material to where a lower edge of each also expands outwardly, providing an absorbtion of force with a rapid rebound when the force is removed, providing a dampening spring action, with the spaced cylindrical cavities also included in the shoe insert that are each formed to have approximately half the volume of a dome shaped cavity, and are positioned adjacent to points of lesser anticipated stress concentrations and around the insert outer edge, that are each to collapse inwardly around a center portion such that edges thereof flex outwardly, providing a cushioning while prohibiting an outward creep of the insert material.
Abstract:
The steps of the method of the invention are preferably practice on apparatus consisting of components arranged in a closed system for removing particulate matter and gases from a polluted gas stream that includes a sorbent particulate charging and injection gun for electrostatically charging sorbent particles and injecting them into a polluted gas stream to charge and agglomerize pollution particulates therein, the stream flowing into a collection system housing that contains a series of moving and static bed filters and provides for operations at pressures less than atmospheric, and at temperatures up to two thousand (2000) degrees F. The filter beds are maintained across the housing and spaced apart from front to back therein, each filter containing a media material selected for removing the charged agglomerized pollution and sorbent reacted particulates and reacting with gases in the polluted gas stream, providing for removal thereof to clean that gas stream that is then vented to atmosphere. At least one and preferably a plurality of moving bed filters are arranged in the collection system housing, each, in turn, receiving and passing the gas stream therethrough, which filter beds each including rotary airlock and rotary valves for maintaining a closed system and preventing infiltration of outside air within the housing while still allowing new media materials to be added and vented out of the filter, and a static bed filter is used as a final clean up filter.
Abstract:
A hopper system and electrostatic gun for injecting electrostatically charged sorbent particles into a polluted gas stream for inclusion in an apparatus that utilizes electrostatically charged sorbent particles for removing particulate matter and gases from a polluted gas stream. The invention includes a hopper system with a bin that is selected to hold a required volume of dry sorbent material and is arranged to feed a metered quantity of sorbent materials, preferably by a screw feed, to receive an air flow from a regenerative blower the air flow mixes with sorbent materials in a throat of a venturi line and transports that flow into a barrel an electrostatic gun. The air entrained sorbent materials travel around and along a charging wand that is centered longitudinally in the barrel bore, and is electrically connected to received a controlled voltage from a high voltage power supply. The charging wand provides an electrostatic charge to all the sorbent particles passing thereby that are then passed into and are rapidly dispersed in the polluted gas stream so as to provide a large charged area in the flow for electrostatically charging, by charged sorbent particle contact, the pollution particles and attracting submicron size of pollution particles. Agglomerized sorbent and pollution particles are thereby formed that are then removed, by passage through a series of filter beds of media materials that as selected for the particular agglomerized pollution and sorbent particles, cleaning the gas stream that is then vented to atmosphere.
