摘要: A cellular automaton which generates pseudorandom data comprises a series of cells arranged such that each cell receives signals from electrically adjacent first and second cells. Each cell comprises a D-type flip-flop for storing a data bit, and logic circuitry which couples the flip-flop of the cell to those of associated first and second adjacent cells. The logic circuitry responds to the current state of the data bits stored by a particular cell and its associated first and second electrically adjacent cells by changing the value of the data bit stored by the particular cell according to the following relationship:a(t+1)=.sub.first (t) XOR[a(t) OR a.sub.second (t)]where, a(t) represents the current state of the data bit stored by the particular cell, a(t+1) represents the next state of the data bit stored by the particular cell, a.sub.first (t) represents the current state of the data bit stored by the first electrically adjacent cell, and a.sub.second (t) represents the current state of the data bit stored by the second electrically adjacent cell.

摘要: Apparatus for applying liquid-solid dispersions to soil. Valve means are provided which permit cleaning. An elongate conduit, with an aperture at one end, and a first valve proximate such aperture may be opened to permit passage of a pig member. An upwardly extending conduit is “T'ed” off the elongate conduit, and connects with a manifold and a plurality of supply tubes to direct the liquid-solid dispersions to the soil at various points along the frame of the applicator. A second valve may be provided on the upwardly extending conduit, which may be closed to prevent initial supply of the liquid-solid dispersion to the apparatus and instead flow to the aperture to prevent plugging during initial operation. The second valve, when closed, further serves as an anti-siphoning valve to prohibit further supply of liquid solid dispersion to the manifold. A method for cleaning such apparatus is further disclosed.

摘要: Interferometric path length measurements using frequency-domain interferometry form the basis of several measurement techniques, including optical frequency domain reflectometry (OFDR), optical coherence tomography (OCT), and frequency-modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar and lidar. A phase-sensitive and self-referenced approach to frequency-domain interferometry yields absolute and relative path length measurements with axial precision orders of magnitude better than the transform-limited axial resolution of the system.

摘要: An apparatus for application of a liquid manure to soil, possessing a frame which is adapted when towed over soil to apply such to the soil. A supply conduit, having a distal end and a proximal end is provided. The distal end thereof is adapted to be releasibly coupled and in fluid communication with a flexible supply hose which supplies the liquid-solid solution, such as liquid manure, to the distal end of the conduit. The proximal end of the conduit is in fluid communication with a manifold which thereafter via a plurality of supply tubes supplies such liquid/liquid solid dispersion to the soil. An intermediate portion of the supply conduit is flexible. A boom member at its distal end supports a distal end of the supply conduit. A proximal end of the boom member is pivotably coupled to the frame to allow pivotal movement of the distal end of the boom member in at least a horizontal plane. The pivotal coupling in a preferred embodiment further permits limited vertical movement of the distal end of the boom member to better allow direct transmittal of tensile pulling forces on the flexible supply hose to reduce the incidence of kinking of such supply hose.

摘要: A waveguide array is fabricated by providing a photoreactive material and generating an optical intensity pattern corresponding to a geometry of the waveguide array. A relative translation of the photoreactive material is effected through the optical intensity pattern. Thereafter, the photoreactive material is rendered substantially unreactive to light at at least a wavelength of the optical intensity pattern.

摘要: An apparatus for application of a liquid or liquid-solid dispersion to soil, which is adapted when towed over soil to apply such liquid-solid dispersion to the soil. A supply conduit, having a distal end and a proximal end is provided. The distal end thereof is adapted to be releasibly coupled and in fluid communication with a source of liquid-solid solution, such as liquid manure. The supply conduit is pivotally coupled, via a pivot member, to the frame of the implement to permit the supply conduit to be pivoted in a substantially horizontal plane. The pivot member is coupled at one end thereof to the supply conduit at a location intermediate the distal end and the proximal end of such supply conduit, and is pivotally coupled at an opposite end to the frame of the apparatus. A manifold portion, having a plurality of manifolds thereon, is provided. A corresponding plurality of flexible tube members, in fluid communication with a respective manifold member, are further proided to permit delivery of the liquid-solid dispersion to various areas of the apparatus for subsequent delivery to the soil. A kit comprising the supply conduit and attached pivot member are also described, such kit adapted to permit conversion of an existing soil tillage or soil aeration apparatus to an apparatus that further provides for delivery of liquid-solid dispersions, such as liquid fertilizer, or liquid manure, to the soil.

摘要: An apparatus for monitoring an input optical signal at a plurality of distinct optical frequencies is disclosed wherein a demultiplexing arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) having a plurality of M>1 Vernier input ports is disposed between an optical switch and a photodiode array coupled to the output ports of the AWG. In operation, the optical switch sequentially provides the input optical signal into each of the Vernier ports, and signals detected by photodiodes are stored in a memory unit. The apparatus is capable of monitoring the input optical signal with a frequency step which is M times smaller than a frequency spacing between the AWG transmission bands, and obtain M frequency-resolved readings from each photodiode.
