    摘要： Devices, systems and methods for a portable printer are provided. Personnel utilize features of the printer to manage products, store information on labels, and aid in shipping. A low battery shut-off feature shuts down the printer at a set battery power percentage; a battery charge control feature controls battery charging to stay within a set range of state of charge values to ensure longer battery life; a ribbon cartridge insertion feature allows for easy replacement of the ribbon cartridge; ribbon cartridge locating features lock the ribbon cartridge into place for printing; a ribbon guiding feature adjusts the ribbon during printing to reduce wrinkles; an RFID coupler mounting feature mounts and shields an RFID coupler inside the printer; a media guide locking feature fixes the media position to prevent misalignment; and a media alignment feature allows the user to properly align the media with the printhead during installation.

    摘要： A portable hand-held image recording device for generating and storing information representative of a two dimensional image includes a compact image scanning apparatus, a microprocessor, memory, and associated control software. The compact image scanning apparatus includes a light emitting diode array to provide a source of light, a focusing element to create a scan line on the image, a lens array to transmit light reflected off of the image, and an image sensor to convert the light reflected off of the image into electronic information. A scanning subassembly is provided to accurately track movement of the recording device across the image and to incrementally scan discrete portions of the image by controlling energization of the light emitting diode array.

    摘要： A portable data collection device is provided for reading fluorescent indicia, such as barcodes. The device includes a housing with a pivotable image capture module. The image capture module includes an adjustable aperture, a color detector array for imaging light received through the aperture, and a removable flash module to provide ultraviolet light. Optics in the image capture module focus the light received through the aperture onto the detector array, in which the detector array is movable with respect to the lens to provide proper focus of an image onto the detector array. The adjustable aperture has an iris wheel to control the amount of light received by the detector array. A programmed controller is provided in the housing which operates responsive to a user interface to image and decode indicia, or capture color digital images in memory. A display on the housing shows images received by the detector array in a non-fluorescent imaging mode to target indicia to be imaged and decoded, where the controller automatically adjusts the focus of the image by adjusting the focal distance between the detector array and the lens. In response to user actuation via the user interface, the controller energizes the flash module to emit light, including the excitation wavelength(s), which enable the indicia to fluoresce, and the detector array receives fluorescent light to capture an image frame of the indicia. The duration of the flash is in accordance with the amount of light measured by a light sensor in the image capture module. The indicia in the image frame is then decoded by the controller to provide data representative of the indicia.

    摘要： An improved mechanism for centering a roll of paper stock for printing in a portable printer is provided, in which the printer has a housing with a cavity and an opening from a side thereof to provide a receptacle for the roll. The centering mechanism includes a spindle disposed in the cavity toward the opening and mounted in the housing for rotation about an axis, and a pair of arms coupled to each other to move in opposite directions with respect to a center between the arms. The arms engage the two opposing ends of the roll when received on the spindle for centering the roll on the spindle. The arms are coupled to each other by a rack and pinion assembly which moves the arms in opposite direction to each other responsive to a force applied by an operator to one of the arms when a roll is received on the spindle.
