    摘要: A low-impedance radiation-emitting diode is provided to emit pulses of coherent radiation in response to the application of high energy pulses. The circuit includes an oscillator which triggers a single shot multivibrator, the latter rendering a switching transistor conductive to provide a path through an inductor to ground. Current builds up linearly in the inductor and at termination of the pulse provided by the single shot, the switching transistor assumes a nonconductive state. The inductor is subsequently discharged through a storage capacitor which is appropriately discharged through the radiation-emitting diode thereby producing the emission of a pulse of coherent radiation. 6This is a continuation of application Ser. No. 627,901 filed Apr. 3, 1967.

    摘要: A cryostat assembly is provided having a finned cryogen delivery tube spirally surrounding an internal cylinder. The terminating end of the tube is sealed and a cryogen escape port is located adjacent a detector heat load. The central cylinder contains a bellows arrangement having sealed therein the cryogen utilized in the delivery tube, or other suitable fluid. The bellows has attached thereto a needlepointed element having its needlepoint in operative relationship with the escape port in the delivery tube. Spring means normally bias the element to bring the needlepoint into closed relationship with the port. As ambient temperature varies, the fluid within the bellows expands and contracts, moving the needlepoint into and out of sealing relationship with the port thereby accomplishing bleeding feed of the cryogen from the delivery tube, the expansion of which into the lower pressured area induces cooling of the detector by virtue of what is known as the Joule-Thomson effect.

    摘要: The invention is directed to a radiometer arrangement which may be utilized to periodically scan a source of electromagnetic radiation and provide an electrical output signal accurately related to the radiation emanating from the source. A control circuit is provided to synchronize the transmission of radiation information with the rotary action of the arrangement during successive scans. A DC signal amplifier is employed and means are provided to restore the amplifier to a base level periodically, thus eliminating false information that could be generated within the system by amplifier drift.

    摘要: Disclosed is a multichannel fire or explosion detection system wherein an output fire suppression or control signal is generated in response to fires or explosions which radiate power above a predetermined threshold level. The system includes means which discriminate against explosive fires in a fuel tank or other highly combustible material on the one hand and high energy exploding rounds of ammunition per se which do not subsequently cause a large scale fire. Thus, the present detection system will not generate an output fire suppression or control signal in the event a high energy ammunition round explodes in the vicinity of a fuel tank without igniting and exploding it. Additionally, fail safe detection logic means are provided in the present system and generate a time delayed fire suppression enable signal to thereby enable an output signal gate in the event of a delayed or secondary fire or explosion above a predetermined magnitude.
