    摘要: A heat exchange cell is described comprising a containment casing comprising a rear wall, a front wall and a peripheral side wall, a helically-shaped heat exchanger comprising at least one tubular duct for the flow of a first heat transfer fluid coiled about a longitudinal axis of the helix according to a plurality of coils and mounted in the containment casing; a feeding zone of a second heat transfer fluid, intended for the heat exchange with the first heat transfer fluid, defined in the casing coaxially and internally with respect to the heat exchanger; a first chamber for collecting the second heat transfer fluid externally defined with respect to the heat exchanger between a radially outer wall thereof and the peripheral side wall of the containment casing; and a second chamber for collecting the second heat transfer fluid at least partially delimited by at least one separating element.

    摘要: A system to produce ethylene includes, in one embodiment, separately cracking a heavy hydrocarbon feed and a lighter feed, cooling the latter product in a transfer-line exchanger before admixture with the former product and cooling the mixed product in a transfer-line exchanger. Both exchangers are preferably a novel transfer-line exchanger that has a construction including a vertical tank, with a cylindrical intermediate portion and conical bottom entrance and top exit end portions, tube sheets at the top and bottom ends of the intermediate portion of the tank, vertical tubes extending between the tube sheets and in alignment with openings in the tube sheets. The tubes extend downwardly through the lower tube sheet with their ends at openings in a conical shield that is supported in the entrance conical portion of the tank by the tubes or by the conical entrance portion of the tank. The lower tube sheet has an opening to pass steam into the chamber between that sheet and the shield or steam is introduced into that chamber through the wall of the conical entrance portion of the tank and through the shield. The construction provides egress of steam from this chamber to the entrance end of the tubes below the conical shield for mixture with product to be cooled. When using the novel transfer-line exchanger, the system can provide the cooling of the product from the steam-cracking of the heavier feed without prior admixture with cooled product from the steam-cracking of lighter feed.

    摘要: A method of making a lightweight thermal shield that includes obtaining a mold having a shaped support screen with a molding surface configured to allow the passage of air and moisture therethrough, and with the mold being adapted for drawing a vacuum from behind the support screen. The method also includes applying a wet insulation material onto the molding surface of the support screen and drawing a vacuum to withdraw moisture through the support screen and consolidate a layer of insulation material on top the molding surface. The method further includes removing the consolidated layer of insulation material from off the molding surface, installing the consolidated layer of insulation material into an outer shell layer, and drying the consolidated layer of insulation material within the outer shell layer to form a lightweight core insulation layer.

    摘要: A high efficiency thermal interposer comprising a first hollow disk and second hollow disk, held together by thermally isolating fasteners. The fasteners keep the disks from touching one another. In an illustrative embodiment of the invention, the first disk is the low temperature disk portion and the second disk is the high temperature disk portion of the heat shield. Furthermore, according to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the space between the disks is filled with small thermally conductive particles (e.g., stainless steel spheres) which are in thermal contact with the high temperature disk; but which are not in contact with the low temperature disk. The thermal interposer/heat shield includes means for introducing cold jets of air into the cavity containing the particles, means for circulating the air therebetween, and means through which the air can exit from the cavity to carry away the heat picked up from the particles inside the cavity. The novel thermal interposer has a low mass, is compact and can achieve a temperature drop that will permit high powered HAT devices to be used in conjuction with temperature sensitive electronic orientation means, such as robot arms.

    摘要: A heat exchange cell includes a casing, a heat exchanger in which a first heat transfer fluid flows, a feeding zone, and first and second collection chambers for a second heat transfer fluid. The casing can include rear, front, and peripheral side walls. The heat exchanger can be helically-shaped, mounted in the casing, and include at least one tubular duct for the flow of the first heat transfer fluid. The tubular duct can be coiled about a longitudinal axis and define a helix. The feeding zone of the second heat transfer fluid can be defined in the casing coaxially and internally with respect to the helix. The first chamber can be defined externally with respect to the heat exchanger by a radially outer wall thereof and the peripheral side wall. The second chamber can be at least partially delimited by at least one separating element.
