摘要: Disclosed are various embodiments for mitigating congestion in networks employing flow-based hashing to assign flows to routes. A flow of packets is sent from a source endpoint to a destination endpoint by way of a network. The flow of packets is associated with flow identification information. It is detected whether congestion is affecting the flow of packets in the network. A perturbation to the flow identification information for the flow of packets is effected in response to determining that congestion is affecting the flow of packets in the network.

摘要: An operating system provides a point-and-print capability to users of the workstation. The point-and-print capability allows a user to print on any printer available within a distributed system by simply selecting a printer and requesting to print on the printer. The retrieval of configuration information and installation of the printer is performed transparently relative to the user of the workstation. The required printer configuration information is retrieved from a database that is maintained at a network server for the network that includes the target printer. A heuristic technique is employed to obtain complete printer configuration information when such printer configuration is not fully available from the network server.

摘要: Disclosed are various embodiments for avoiding flow collisions in networks employing flow-based hashing to assign flows to routes. A flow of packets is sent from a source endpoint to a destination endpoint by way of a network. The flow is associated with flow identification information including, for example, a source port, a source network address, a destination port, and a destination address. It is determined whether to perturb the flow identification information for the flow to avoid flow collisions caused by flow-based hashing performed in the network. A state associated with the flow is updated to effect a perturbation to the flow identification information for the flow if the flow identification information for the flow is to be perturbed.

摘要: Generally described, systems and methods are provided for monitoring and detecting causes of failures of network paths. The system collects performance information from a plurality of nodes and links in a network, aggregates the collected performance information across paths in the network, processes the aggregated performance information for detecting failures on the paths, analyzes each of the detected failures to determine at least one root cause, and initiates a remedial workflow for the at least one root cause determined. In some aspects, processing the aggregated information may include performing a statistical regression analysis or otherwise solving a set of equations for the performance indications on each of a plurality of paths. In another aspect, the system may also include an interface which makes available for display one or more of the network topology, the collected and aggregated performance information, and indications of the detected failures in the topology.

摘要: The transmission of data on computer networks according to one or more policies is disclosed. A policy may specify, among other things, various parameters which are to be followed when transmitting initiating network traffic. Multiple network interfaces may be installed on a server to enable transmission of data from the single server according a number of discrete configuration settings implicated by the various policies. The multiple network interfaces may correspond to separate physical components, with each component configured independently to implement a feature of a policy. The multiple network interfaces may also correspond to a single physical component that exposes multiple network interfaces, both to the network and to the server on which it is installed.

摘要: A service provider can maintain one or more host computing devices which may be utilized as bare metal instances by one or more customers of the service provider. Illustratively, each host computing device includes hardware components that are configured in a manner to allow the service provider to implement one or more processes upon a power cycle of the host computing device and prior to access of the host computing device resources by customers. In one aspect, a hosting platform includes components arranged in a manner to limit modifications to software or firmware on hardware components. In another aspect, the hosting platform can implement management functions for establishing control plane functions between the host computing device and the service provider that is independent of the customer. Additionally, the management functions can also be utilized to present different hardware or software attributes of the host computing device.

摘要: A backup system that utilizes contextual and semantic concepts is described. The backup system provides for the ability to create a version changes log for listing and tracking all the changes in the different versions of the file. The version changes log creates a contextual description around the changes, deletions and additions. The semantic concept log is created from the version changes log to create a log of all of the semantic concepts associated with each change. A visualization builder then creates visualizations that can be used by the user to search for changes, deletions and additions whether in a text file or an image file.

摘要: Disclosed are various embodiments for estimating round-trip times to improve performance of networks. Multiple connections are opened to a network device. Round-trip times associated with sending packets to the network device via the connections are measured. Another connection to the same or a different network device is opened. A round-trip-time estimate for the other connection is initialized based at least in part on the measured round-trip times for the multiple connections, and in some embodiments, network device proximity data.
