    Abstract: A backlight unit includes one or more light sources operable to emit light and a light guide plate arranged adjacent to the one or more light sources, reflected lights exiting the one or more light sources via the second surfaces and entering the light guide plate. A light source includes a light emitting device having a substrate and a semiconductor stack disposed on the substrate. The reflector is structured and positioned to block light emitted from a first surface of the light emitting device by reflecting the light emitted from the first surface toward second surfaces of the light source.

    Abstract: A lighting device including at least one light emitter to emit blue light, a green phosphor having an emission peak in a range of 500 nm to 550 nm, a yellow phosphor having an emission peak in a range of 550 nm to 600 nm, and a red phosphor having an emission peak in a range of 600 nm to 650 nm, in which the yellow phosphor and the red phosphor have different full widths at half maximum, and the full width at half maximum of the yellow phosphor is longer than that of the red phosphor, and, in an emission spectrum, an intensity of light emitted from the lighting device increases from 500 nm to 600 nm, and the intensity of light emitted from the lighting device at 700 nm is less than about 10% of the maximum intensity of light emitted from the lighting device.

    Abstract: Provided are a method for using a white light source, and a white light source, wherein precise control of daily rhythm and pleasant lighting can be safely and easily realized in a place of living such as a general home. An embodiment provides a method for using a white light source. Provided that: amounts of stimulation light emitted from a white light source to the intrinsically photosensitive retinal ganglion cells (ipRGCs) and visual cells of the L cone and M cone, among the visual cells of human, are defined as a melanopic irradiance, an L-cone opic irradiance, and an M-cone opic irradiance, respectively; a ratio of the amounts of the stimulation light is expressed by the following formula (1); and A is the ratio corresponding to the emission spectrum of the white light source, and B is the ratio corresponding to the radiation spectrum of a black body having the same color temperature as the white light source, an amount of stimulation light emitted to the ipRGC is quantitatively changed by changing the emission intensity of the white light source satisfying the following formula (2).
