Abstract:
A system, apparatus and method are described for displaying multiple attributes relative to objects in a network management program. In one embodiment, multiple attributes from a plurality of different standards are coalesced together and the coalesced attributes are displayed by a user interface. These coalesced attributes may be shown in such a manner so that inconsistencies between attributes of objects from different standards are reduced or obviated.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a system, apparatus and method for providing point-to-point inter-chassis connections within chassis systems and/or network nodes. Multi-chassis systems within a network employ a protocol wherein a peer discovery process is initiated and the discovered neighbors are authentically verified before establishing an active state between point-to-point inter-chassis links.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for generic support of frame relay services in a communications network is presented. This is accomplished by defining a bit field that indicates whether or not particular functions or services (including frame relay services) are supported by a particular node or other network component. The bit field for each component within the communications network is communicated to the network manager, which stores the bit fields for each component within a database. The database is then utilized to perform network management functions, as it informs the network manager whether a particular service/feature is available on the network component to which the bit field corresponds.
Abstract:
A method for receiving, by circuitry of an optical node adapted for wavelength multiplexing and wavelength switching, a signal over OSC comprising overhead information indicative of status of at least one of an optical layer in an OTN; wherein the signal utilizes OC-N frame format comprising a first STS frame, a second STS frame, and a third STS frame, the STS frames having a format wherein the information is assigned to a number of bits designated for OAM information, wherein the bits are assigned to bytes within a transport overhead portion of the STS frame format within the OC-N frame format; terminating, by circuitry of the optical node, the signal at the optical node; and notifying, by circuitry of the optical node, software of the status of the optical layer in the OTN.
Abstract:
Methods and systems are disclosed for providing a signaling protocol to enable a bi-directional point-to-point Ethernet Virtual Circuits (EVC) to be configured between any two network elements, as part of a network infrastructure. The bi-directional EVC is established by configuration of a source network element and a destination network element, and defines a bi-directional data path across the network infrastructure therebetween. The EVC may include one or more network elements over which the data path may traverse. The methods and systems disclosed may be applied to linear, ring and mesh network topologies.
