A mobile communication device configured in accordance with one embodiment of the disclosure, for example, including a first component having a front side and a first periphery edge, and a second component operably coupled to the first component. The second component is rotatably movable about the front side of the first component into at least first, second, and third operating positions. The second component includes a second periphery edge, and the first and second periphery edges remain generally parallel with each other as the second component rotatably moves between the first, second, and third operating positions.

According to one aspect, a hinge mechanism includes a first assembly with a pivot connection, a cam follower, and a second assembly. The cam follower is used to produce a cam action. The second assembly includes a cam. The cam follower cooperates with the cam to produce a moment about an axis associated with the latching hinge mechanism. The cam follower and the cam also cooperate to effectively latch the first assembly with respect to the second assembly when the cam is in a first position. According to another aspect, a display screen of the portable computing device can be rotateably-hinged to a base such that the display screen is set back from the base when the display screen is opened.

    摘要： A gear-driven docking apparatus for removable mass-storage drives comprises a guide rail, mounted inside a computer chassis, and a drive carrier, bearing a mass-storage drive. The drive carrier includes an alignment groove for slidingly receiving the guide rail and a gear train for engaging a rack profile formed at the proximal end of the guide rail, The rack profile and the gear train incorporate a mechanism that provides gear-and-rack synchronization under all operating conditions. Data and power connectors of the mass-storage drive are terminated to a printed circuit board that is movably attached to the drive carrier. The circuit board merges the separate power and data connectors into a single docking connector having registration pins.

    摘要： An apparatus and method for controlling spindle motor of compact disc utilizing appliance are disclosed, in which the spindle motor is controlled early to meet a rotation speed on a target track, in a rough search, so that a phase locked loop (PLL) servo is normally operated, immediately after the search, thereby enabling the time required in accessing information to be reduced. The apparatus includes a device for detecting the rotation speed of the spindle motor. In the search mode, the frequency corresponding to the detected rotation speed of the spindle motor is compared with a reference frequency corresponding to a rotation speed on the target track. A signal indicative of the comparison result is differentially amplified, to control the spindle motor to correspond to the rotation speed on the target track, in the search mode. After a compact disc has been loaded, the rotation speed in a track corresponding to a reference position at which a reference value is set is detected, so that the inherent deviation in constant linear velocity is calculated, based on the reference value, and corrected upon calculating the number of tracks.

    摘要： An automatic force generating and control system including a lever pivotally attached to a monolith and a lower body exerciser pivotally attached to a bench, with both the bench and monolith attached to a platform. The rotation of the lower body exerciser is translated into linear movement by a series of sprockets and timing belts. The electrical output from load cells and potentiometers are processed by the electronic controls to determine the speed, direction and position and the amount and direction of force being exerted on the lever and lower body exerciser. Resistance to movement is provided by a lever hydraulics assembly and a lower body hydraulics assembly. The lever has arms and handles which articulate to the physique of the user and the exercise to be performed. The arms pivot in mirror relationship and the lower body exerciser may be lengthened or shortened. Electric solenoid clutches or hydraulics may engage the handles to the arms and the arms to the head of the lever. In an alternate embodiment, a mechanical linkage may transmit rotation between the arm and the lower body exerciser negating the need for one of the hydraulics assemblies.

    摘要： A recommendations system is provided in various embodiments for selecting items to recommend to a user. The system includes a recommendation engine with a plurality of recommenders, and each recommender identifies a different type of reason for recommending items. In one embodiment, each recommender retrieves item preference data and generates candidate recommendations responsive to a subset of that data. The recommenders also score the candidate recommendations. In certain embodiments, a normalization engine normalizes the scores of the candidate recommendations provided by each recommender. A candidate selector selects at least a portion of the candidate recommendations based on the normalized scores to provide as recommendations to the user. The candidate selector also outputs the recommendations with associated reasons for recommending the items.
