Abstract: A catalyst layer for polymer electrolyte fuel cells that improves drainage or gas diffusion, reduces or prevents the occurrence of cracking in a catalyst layer, enhances catalyst utilization efficiency, exerts high output power and high energy conversion efficiency, and has high durability, and also provides a membrane-electrode assembly and a polymer electrolyte fuel cell using the catalyst layer. The catalyst layer for polymer electrolyte fuel cells contains a catalyst, carbon particles, a polymer electrolyte, and a fibrous material. In the catalyst layer, the carbon particles carry the catalyst1. The catalyst layer for polymer electrolyte fuel cells has voids. The percentage of frequencies of the voids having a cross-sectional area of 10,000 nm2 or more is 13% or more and 20% or less among the voids observed in a thickness-direction cross section of the catalyst layer for polymer electrolyte fuel cells perpendicular to the surface thereof.

Abstract: A protective film that includes at least one of a transparent polyolefin resin layer and a surface protection layer, and that has excellent weather resistance and a low level of white turbidity, which is a factor that impairs design properties; and a sheet using the protective film. The protective film comprises at least a transparent polyolefin resin layer, wherein the transparent polyolefin resin layer contains a first hydroxyphenyltriazine-based ultraviolet absorber (UVA-A) having a structure represented by the general formula below. In the general formula, R1-R3 each independently represent a hydrogen atom, a methyl group, a phenyl group, or an alkoxy group, and at least two of R1-R3 are an alkoxy group having 8-18 carbon atoms, R4 and R5 each independently represent a hydroxyl group, a methyl group, or a hydrogen atom, and R6-R8 each independently represent a methyl group or a hydrogen atom.

Abstract: A display with a plurality of display elements each composed of an uneven layer having an uneven structure and a multilayer film layer provided on the uneven structure. A pattern formed by convexities can be divided into shape elements each arranged in each of a plurality of virtual rectangles, when viewed from a direction facing the uneven layer, and each of the shape elements arranged in each of the virtual rectangles is inscribed in the rectangle in which the shape element is arranged. The plurality of virtual rectangles each have sides along a first direction and sides along a second direction orthogonal to the first direction, and a length of the side along the first direction is less than or equal to a sub wavelength.

Abstract: An electrode catalyst layer includes a catalyst material, a conductive carrier, which supports the catalyst material, a polymer electrolyte, and a fibrous material. The electrode catalyst layer includes a three-dimensional network of a flow path. The flow path includes a plurality of terminal points and a plurality of branches. Each of the branches is an elongated hole connecting a pair of the terminal points. The plurality of branches include a bifurcated branch. One of the pair of the terminal points of the bifurcated branch is connected to another branch. The number of branches per unit volume of the electrode catalyst layer is 8500 or more and 13000 or less. The unit volume is defined as 3.9 μm×3.9 μm×4.4 μm.

Abstract: A glass device including a thin glass substrate which has a glass thickness of 300 μm or less is enabled to be provided more easily. In a method for manufacturing the glass device, one or more through holes are formed in a glass substrate, and a first wiring on a first surface side of the glass substrate and a second wiring on a second surface side of the glass substrate are electrically connected to each other via the through holes. After the first wiring is provided, the through holes are formed while the glass substrate is being thinned by etching. Then, wirings in the through holes and the second wiring are formed. The thinned glass substrate has a thickness of 50 μm or more and 300 μm or less. The through holes have the shape of a truncated cone.

Abstract: A display is provided with a periodic structure that is dielectric and includes a support and a plurality of periodic elements. A plurality of periodic elements is arranged on a reference plane in a two-dimensional lattice form having a sub-wavelength period and are either convexities projected or concavities recessed in the reference plane. A metal layer is disposed on a surface of the periodic structure. The surface corresponds to a plane including a region of the reference plane surrounding the individual periodic elements and surfaces of the periodic elements. The metal layer's profile conforms to a surface profile of the periodic structure. The plurality of periodic elements have an interval therebetween in a first direction in which the plurality of periodic elements are arranged in a two-dimensional lattice form. The interval is different from an interval between the periodic elements in a second direction intersecting the first direction.
