摘要： A highly sensitive and specific method for the detection and quantification of lipids is provided. Specifically, methods for the simultaneous detection and quantification of phospholipids extracted from mammalian tissues is described. The analytical methods provided disclose a modified one-dimensional thin-layer chromatography technique specifically developed to rapidly and accurantely detect and quantify phospholipids from mammalian cardiac tissues.

摘要： A method for preparing collagenous biological tissues for use as implantable bioprosthetic material, and articles prepared thereby. The method generally comprises the steps of a) contacting the tissue with an aldehyde fixative to effect cross-linking of the connective tissue protein(s) and subsequently b) contacting the tissue with a polyglycidyl ether. The treatment of the crosslinked tissue with the polyglycidyl ether serves to mitigate the tissue's propensity to undergo calcification following implantation in the body.

摘要： The activities of chymopapain or papain in enzyme mixtures are inhibited by the addition of glycogen, hyaluronic acid, or desulfated heparin. The process for isolating viable hepatocytes or pancreatic cells by treatment with papain or chymopapain is improved by terminating the treatment by inhibiting the reaction with these polysaccharides. Similarly, the process for removing undesired tissue by treatment with papain or chymopapain is improved by terminating the treatment by inhibiting the reaction with these polysaccharides.
