    摘要： Disclosed is a method of preventing or inhibiting biofilm formation by a population of bacteria comprising the administration of a sterile intravenous normal saline solution containing glycerin and amino acids. In some embodiments, the concentration of glycerin in the normal saline solution is approximately 3%. In some embodiments, the concentration of amino acids in the normal saline solution is approximately 3%. In some embodiments, the intravenous solution is administered for 48 hours at 80 cc/hour. In some embodiments, the solution is infused via intracavernous administration into an infected body cavity.

    摘要： Disclosed are devices and methods for correlating or aligning pre-surgical image(s) with image(s) observed during a surgical procedure to aid in orientation of tissues and devices for performing a surgical procedure. In a preferred embodiment, the invention provides devices and methods for aligning pre-surgical image(s) of optical tissues or structures, e.g., the retina, with real-time images observed or obtained with a slit lamp, or other optical viewing device. The ability of the subject invention to correlate these images can advantageously provide the physician with greater accuracy when administering surgical treatment, such as with a laser, and can significantly reduce surgery time.

    摘要： Egg candling methods and apparatus are provided wherein the optical path between a light source and light detector is monitored for obscuring debris and/or malfunctions. A method of candling eggs includes illuminating an egg with light from a light source; receiving light passing through the egg at a light detector; generating an output signal that corresponds to light received at the light detector for the egg; and analyzing the output signal to determine whether the optical path between the light source and light detector has been altered. In response to determining that a respective optical path has been altered, the light source and/or light detector is cleaned and/or inspected for malfunctions. Cleaning the light source and/or light detector may include wiping a surface of the light source and/or light detector and/or spraying a surface of the light source and/or light detector with a fluid.
