摘要: A gel electrophoresis separation apparatus comprising, in combination, a gaseous heat-exchange medium, a gaseous heat-exchange medium driving means, and an impingement means, whereby the gaseous heat-exchange medium is driven by the gaseous heat-exchange medium driving means across the impingement means to provide a flow of the gaseous heat-exchange medium on the surface of the gel plates, whereby the flow induced by passage of the gaseous heat-exchange medium through the impingement means thereby minimizes temperature gradients within the gel by forced convection.

摘要: An aquarium tank having a bottom and four side walls is characterized by a transparent divider diagonally dividing the tank into two physically separate compartments, while maintaining the visual impression of a single compartment aquarium. The divider is vertical, rests on the bottom of the aquarium, and is of a height slightly greater than the level of water in the aquarium. The divider is clear and transparent throughout the major portion of the area thereof, and includes perforate areas adjacent its two ends for passage of water between the two compartments. Resilient mounting members at the two vertical ends of the divider provide a snug fit thereof into diagonally opposite corners of the aquarium. As a consequence of the physical separation of the compartments, newly born fry may be confined in one of the compartments safe from larger predatory fish in the other compartment.

摘要: A method and apparatus for communicating data packets according to classes of service is described. One or more service interfaces are coupled to a plurality of transport interfaces. The service interfaces carry packets having multiple classes of service, while each of the plurality of transport interfaces carries packets of a single class of service. A differentiated services codepoint profile is associated with each service interface and maps a differentiated services codepoint value of a data packet to a class of service and a drop precedence. The data packet is assigned to a transport interface based on its class of service and its drop precedence. Other factors, such as the destination of the data packet may be considered when assigning the data packet to a transport interface. Data packets from different transport interfaces are preferably enqueued in different queues of a destination service interface.

摘要: A method and information processing system for providing messaging through an electronic messaging system. At least one user is determined to have performed at least one of the following two acts, creating an electronic message and sending an electronic message. At least one message is selected from a data store in response to the user having performed at least one of the two acts. The message is embedded within the electronic message. An accounting record is updated that includes information for compensating the user based on sent electronic messages including the message, which has been embedded.

摘要: The present invention relates generally to the preparation and use of biological tissue adhesives which rely on combining fibrinogen and thrombin. More particularly, the present invention relates to a method of preparing a fibrin sealant whereby said sealant is formed by reconstituting the fibrinogen or the thrombin component in the presence of biological and/or non-biological agents such as drugs, chemicals, and proteins. Preferably, these agents are introduced in solution, such as for example, a corticosteroid-containing solution like a betamethasone solution containing betamethasone acetate or betamethasone sodium phosphate; a triamicinolone solution; or a methylprednisolone solution. These solutions may be substituted for, or provided as a complement to, other solutions that are typically used in the preparation of fibrin sealants such as, for example, calcium chloride. The invention further relates to a novel method of using the improved fibrin sealant whereby the sealant and accompanying agent(s) are delivered directly to a critical site within the body and sealed in place due to the bio-static quality of the sealant. This provides therapeutic value to patients through prolonged presence, and optionally time-released delivery, of the specific agent(s) at the critical site.

摘要: This invention relates to the use of a unique apparatus and method for extracting radioactive components from liquids, such as electrophoresis buffers. In the present invention, the radioactive liquid is pumped or transported by other suitable means and is passed through a cartridge having an elongated chamber that contains an exchange medium. The exchange medium, i.e. exchange resin, is contained within the elongated chamber between an upper frit and a lower frit. Further, the cartridge has a means within the elongated chamber for retaining pressure between the upper frit and the lower frit. The nucleotides, being charged molecules, bind to the exchange medium and are removed from the liquid. The liquid then exits the cartridge and has such a low amount of radioactivity that it can be disposed of to a conventional drain.
