    Abstract: An earplug includes a body, a post and a magnet. The body is made of a pliable material and includes a proximal end and a distal end. The proximal end is shaped to be positioned proximal to the user's middle ear and a distal end is shaped to be exposed to the external environment of the user's outer ear when the body is inserted into the user's ear canal. The post is at least partially embedded within the body and includes a first end, a second end and a socket located at one of the first and the second ends. The magnet is positioned in the socket of the post and is capable of producing a permanent magnetic field.

    Abstract: Systems are described for use in removing toxic airborne contaminants from a waxing environment where wax is being applied to sporting equipment. The systems include a base, at least one platform coupled to the base and an airflow generator. The at least one platform is configured to securely receive sporting equipment to be waxed. Each platform includes a first surface that is in contact with the waxing environment, an opposing second surface and at least one opening that extends between the first and second surfaces of each platform. The airflow generator is configured to generate an airflow for pulling harmful airborne contaminants through the at least one opening in each platform in a direction from the first surface to the second surface.

    Abstract: Sensors for use in sensing the level and temperature of a corrosive medium contained in a container. The sensors have particular use in the semiconductor manufacturing industry, however the sensors also have applications in the biotech, pharmaceutical, plating, chemical, petroleum, etc. industries. The sensors comprise first and second elongate, conductive sensor members, each of which has a longitudinal axis and is dimensioned to extend into the medium. The first and second sensor members each include a core that is made from a non-metallic, electrically resistive material having a plurality of non-metallic conductive fibers embedded therein. Each core has opposite ends and the fibers are oriented parallel to the longitudinal axis of the first and second sensor members and extend continuously substantially between the ends of the cores. Media level can be sensed by comparing the capacitance of the sensor members, which changes as the level of the media changes. By interconnecting the ends of the cores with a conductive member, a sensor is formed that can be used to sense the temperature of the media.

    Abstract: An alarm unit for signaling impending overflow of a urine or ostomy (waste) bag includes an external magnet held at the end of an arm. An internal ferrous armature attracts the magnet which provides flux holding a switch element open when the magnet provides at least a predetermined flux to the switch. A clamp allows the user to fasten the unit to an edge of the waste bag with the bag walls between the magnet and the armature. When the bag contents reach the magnet, fluid force of the bag contents separates the magnet and the armature, causing the switch element to close and conduct power from a power supply to a signal element. The arm may be flexible. The switch element preferably comprises a reed switch controlling an electronic power switch.
