Abstract:
An electrical connector includes a dielectric housing with a plurality of filtering modules therein. Each filtering module has a housing and a magnetics assembly including transformer cores with wires wrapped therearound. An array of pins extend from the module housing for connection to the wires. A plurality of tails extend from the module housing for interconnection to a circuit board upon which the connector may be mounted. An interconnection is provided between the pins and tails that may include filtering or other signal modifying circuitry.
Abstract:
A plug connector is disclosed that has a body portion and a circuit card extending forwardly of a mating face of the connector. The circuit card is protected in place by one or more protective flanges that extend forwardly from the body portion and which flank the circuit card to protect it from stubbing and to provide a means for aligning the plug connector with the receptacle connector. The body portion has a hollow frame that supports the circuit card and the interior of the frame is filled with a molding material, such as plastic.
Abstract:
A packaging system is disclosed for storing and handling electrical connector components and the like. The system employs a plurality of elongated component-containing tubes. Each tube has an aperture near at least one end thereof. An assembly rod passes through aligned apertures of a plurality of generally parallel juxtaposed tubes to hold the tubes in a generally stacked array. A stopper plug is adapted for insertion into the one end of each tube to retain the components therein. The assembly rod interengages each stopper plug, whereby all of the stopper plugs are held in their respective tubes by the assembly rod, and removal of the rod from the tubes pulls the stopper plugs out of the one ends of the tubes.
Abstract:
An electrical terminal structure is provided by a pair of hermaphroditic terminals. In one form of the invention, each terminal is bifurcated to define a pair of elongated semi-cylindrical arms of different diameters defining pairs of elongated spaced edges to provide a four-point contact array. In another form of the invention, a pair of hermaphroditic terminals each are trifurcated to define a central semi-cylindrical arm and two outside arms, combining to provide a six-point contact array.
Abstract:
A sealed electrical connector assembly is provided for mounting between a pair of printed circuit boards. The assembly includes a first electrical connector having a dielectric housing mounting a plurality of conductive terminals which have tail portions connected to appropriate circuit traces on a first printed circuit board. A second electrical connector is mateable with the first connector and has a dielectric housing mounting a plurality of conductive terminals which have tail portions connected to appropriate circuit traces on a second printed circuit board which is spaced from and generally parallel to the first printed circuit board when the connectors are mated. An open-ended, generally hollow shroud is provided independent of and surrounding the mated connectors between the parallel printed circuit boards. The peripheral edges of the open ends of the shroud are resilient and are in engagement with opposing surfaces of the parallel printed circuit boards to seal the mating connectors disposed within the shroud from the outside environment.
Abstract:
An edge card electrical connector is adapted for receiving an edge of a printed circuit board having contact pads on at least one side of the board adjacent the edge. The connector includes an elongated dielectric housing having a board-receiving face with an elongated slot for receiving the edge of the printed circuit board. A plurality of terminal-receiving cavities are spaced longitudinally of the slot along at least one side thereof and separated by transverse walls. A plurality of first and second terminals are received in the cavities. The shapes of the terminals are such as to provide excellent capacitive coupling between the first and second terminals to improve electrical performance and reduce crosstalk of the connector.

Abstract:
A circuit element is provided for mounting in an electrical connector. The circuit element includes a one-piece toroidal core made of a sintered, ferrite material. The core has a central bore therein defining an inner surface, an outer surface and oppositely facing top and bottom surfaces, and a plurality of equally spaced apart longitudinal channels formed in one of the top, bottom, inner and outer surfaces. A plurality of wires are twisted together in a uniform, repeating pattern to define a group of twisted wires. The group of twisted wires extends through the central bore and is wrapped around the core to define a plurality of uniformly spaced longitudinal turns with a portion of each turn being positioned in one of the channels.
Abstract:
A packaging container assembly is provided for electrical connector components. The assembly includes a pallet and a tray alignment plate positionable onto the pallet. At least one tray is positionable onto the alignment plate and includes receptacles for supporting electrical connector components in a given orientation. Complementary interengaging alignment elements are provided between the tray and the alignment plate for assuring proper alignment of the tray relative to the alignment plate and, thereby, assuring proper orientation of the electrical connector components within the assembly.
Abstract:
A packaging container is provided for flat flexible electrical circuits that are wound about individual cores, with opposite ends of the cores projecting axially beyond the wound circuits. Top and bottom pallets each are provided with shock-absorbing interior walls for engaging the opposite ends of the cores to mount the wound circuits between the pallets without engaging the circuits. A peripheral side wall structure is latched between the pallets spaced from and substantially enclosing the mounted circuits therewithin.
