摘要: Method and apparatus for the selective scaling, such as magnification and reduction, of video images stored as collections of image pels in a video memory. A lookup table is provided for determination of the values of the scaled image pels. A framing matrix of unscaled image pels is established for each scaled image pel. The framing matrix for the scaled image pels determines the outputs read out of the lookup table, and derivatively, determines the values of the scaled image pels. The scaled image pels are stored in the video memory for subsequent display or processing.

摘要: A method and apparatus for compressing digital image data using interlocking digitate geometric sub-areas. The digital picture elements, or PELs, representing the image are divided into interlocking digitate sub-areas, which, in the preferred embodiment, are of substantially the same size and shape. Data compression is achieved for the PELs within a sub-area by first sorting the values of the PELs within the sub-area by magnitude. Depending upon the magnitudes of the PELs in the sub-area relative to the magnitudes of the other PELs in the sub-area, the PELs in the sub-area are either coded solid tone, with each PEL in the sub-area having the same tone, or coded bi-tonal, with each PEL in the sub-area having either one of two tones. A smoothing process is utilized to reduce undesireable effects at the edges of the sub-area.

摘要: The present invention provides means and methods for generating high resolution color computer generated graphic elements, such as lines, circles and curves, using a modified color-under coding system. A portion of the original luminance grey scale is reassigned or reallocated for substitution with data for high resolution graphic elements. High resolution graphic data are introduced by a user-operated input device via a control device such as a computer. The input luminance signal is digitally limited and stored in video random access memory (VRAM). A level detector detects the Y signal level to determine the presence of certain Y signal levels. Memory look-up tables provide appropriate user-determined substitute values for the Y, I and Q data values where certain, preselected Y signal levels are detected.

摘要: An optical position location apparatus for locating the position of an object in one or more dimensions, which relies upon one or more sources of radiant energy and distributor devices to disburse such radiant energy over a location region or window. Integrated collector assemblies positioned opposite to the distributors receive and collect the transmission of the distributed radiant energy and through reflection or refraction, transfer radiant energy to a minimum of detection locations to monitor the absence or alteration thereof. A rotating optical scanner and a detector are utilized with a continuous stationary light source to successively monitor specific location-coordinate-related portions of transmitted radiant energy and through electronic circuitry, a signal is developed to disclose, with accuracy, the location of objects within the location region "window", as well as other parameters including object size. In other embodiments, an apparatus with elements cooperating along two dimensions is capable of yielding three-dimensional object parameter information.
