摘要: An optical performance monitor comprises a first stage configured to receive a multiplexed optical signal. The first stage is tunable over a period. The first stage periodically filters the multiplexed optical signal over an optical channel to produce a fine filtered optical signal. A second stage is coupled to the first stage and has a second-stage transfer function. The second stage receives the fine filtered optical signal and produces one or a plurality of interfered optical signal pairs. A third stage is coupled to the second stage and has a third-stage transfer function. The third stage receives the optical signal pairs and demultiplexes the optical signal pairs to produce a plurality of demultiplexed optical signals. The combination of the second-stage transfer function and the third-stage transfer function is flatter over the optical channel than the third-stage transfer function.

摘要: An apparatus for applying periodic pressure to the limb of a patient includes a cuff which has a bladder, the cuff is shaped and dimensioned to wrap around the limb of the patient. The apparatus also includes a pump which inflates the bladder in accordance with a pressure application mode which is selected by the patient. In one embodiment a plurality of pressure application modes are provided. The patient can select which particular pressure application mode the apparatus will use. In another embodiment, the maximum cuff pressure is 55 mmHg. In another embodiment, two cycles of pressure application and removal are repeated every minute. In another embodiment, pressure is applied and removed in step fashion. In another embodiment, the pump is capable of increasing cuff pressure from 0 mmHg to 55 mmHg within two seconds. In accordance with another embodiment, a display on the apparatus shows real time cuff pressure, the selected pressure application mode, and cumulative hours of apparatus operation. In another embodiment, a pressure switch ensures that the cuff is properly wrapped around the limb of the patient.

摘要: A method increases the ability of a controller in a printer to detect weak or missing inkjets in the printer. The method includes generating a test pattern having at least twice as much ink as a typical test pattern used to detect weak or missing inkjets. The increased ink appropriately stresses inkjets to facilitate detection of weak or missing inkjets and the test pattern is transferred to media and removed from the printer to preserve the capacity of a drum maintenance unit to store residual ink removed from an imaging drum or belt.

摘要: A method for operating an image receiving member in a phase change ink printer has been developed. The method includes selectively rotating the image receiving member past an activated heater to heat a first portion of the image receiving member to a first predetermined temperature that is greater than a second temperature to which a remaining portion of the image receiving member is heated by the heater.

摘要: A method enables an ink jet imaging device to normalize the driving signals for the ink jets within a print head of the device. The method includes generating an ink jet driving signal at an initial voltage and a particular resolution, coupling the ink jet driving signal to an ink jet for selective emission of ink from the ink jet onto an ink receiver in accordance with the driving signal, scanning the ink receiver and generating a line discontinuity signal indicative of a number of discontinuities detected in a line formed on the ink receiver by the ink ejected from the ink jet, and adjusting one of a voltage and a resolution for the ink jet driving signal in response to the line discontinuity signal received from the scanner.

摘要: A method of performing maintenance on a printhead of an imaging device includes the application of a purge pressure to ink in an on-board reservoir of the printhead to cause ink to be burped through a plurality of apertures in an aperture plate of the printhead. A wiper blade is then dabbed on the aperture plate at least once after the application of the purge pressure. After the dabbing, the wiper blade is drawn across the aperture plate. The wiper blade is then dabbed against the dabbing position at least once after wiping the aperture plate.
