摘要: The present invention relates to novel methods, compositions and kits useful for the treatment of pulmonary diseases such as pulmonary arterial hypertension. In particular, aerosolisable compositions of iloprost are provided which are for use in inhalation therapy. Their administration is by bolus inhalation, which is patient-friendly, effective, and well tolerated. Bolus inhalation may, for example, be achieved using an efficient nebuliser based on the vibrating mesh technology.

One aspect of the invention relates to a mixing channel for an inhalation device, comprising an inlet opening, an outlet opening, and an injection zone located between the inlet opening and the outlet opening, wherein the injection zone has a longitudinal center axis, wherein the injection zone comprises (a) a built-in nebulizer, or (b) a detachable nebulizer, or (c) a member adapted to receive a detachable nebulizer, wherein the effective cross sectional area of the mixing channel in a plane perpendicular to the longitudinal center axis is smaller in the injection zone than upstream of the injection zone.

摘要: An inhalation device having a base unit, a mouthpiece, and an aerosol head is provided. The base unit has an air inlet, an air outlet opening, a groove for receiving the mouthpiece, and key lock member(s). The mouthpiece has two segments: a first segment which is insertable into the groove of the base unit and has an air inlet opening and a lateral opening for receiving an aerosol generator and a second segment with an aerosol outlet. The aerosol head has an aerosol generator, a liquid reservoir, and key lock member(s) complementary to those of the base unit. The base unit, mouthpiece and aerosol head are connectible with one another such that when engaging the members of the key lock with the complementary members, the aerosol generator is inserted into the lateral opening of the mouthpiece.
