摘要: A local oscillator (LO) module comprises a local oscillator and a feedback circuit. The local oscillator, biased at a supply voltage, generates a local oscillator signal having a duty cycle. The feedback circuit makes an absolute adjustment of the duty cycle of the local oscillator signal in response to a difference between a first voltage signal, representing a voltage level of the local oscillator signal, and a second voltage signal, representing a voltage level of a portion of the supply voltage corresponding to a desired duty cycle for the local oscillator signal.

摘要: Techniques for generating local oscillator (LO) signals are described. In one design, an apparatus may include a deskew circuit and a divider circuit. The deskew circuit may receive a differential input oscillator signal having timing skew and provide a differential output oscillator signal having reduced timing skew. The differential input oscillator signal may include first and second input oscillator signals, and the differential output oscillator signal may include first and second output oscillator signals. In one design, the deskew circuit may include first and second variable delay circuits that receive the first and second input oscillator signals, respectively, and provide the first and second output oscillator signals, respectively. Each output oscillator signal may have an adjustable delay selected to reduce timing skew. The divider circuit may divide the differential output oscillator signal in frequency and provide differential I and Q divided signals, which may be used to generate LO signals.

摘要: A system for precise calibration of electronic components is disclosed. In an exemplary embodiment, an apparatus for calibrating a tunable component on an integrated circuit chip includes an on-chip reference component configured to generate a first on-chip reference level, an on-chip connector configured to couple to an external test unit component to generate a second on-chip reference level, and an on-chip memory configured to store at least one error adjustment parameter determined from a difference between the first on-chip reference level and the second on-chip reference level, and wherein the at least one error adjustment parameter is configured to calibrate the tunable component to a desired value.

摘要: In a first aspect, an RF switch includes a main transistor and a gate-to-source shorting circuit. When the RF switch is turned off, the gate-to-source shorting circuit is turned on to short the source and gate of the main transistor together, thereby preventing a Vgs from developing that would cause the main transistor to leak. When the RF switch is turned on, the gate-to-source shorting circuit is turned off to decouple the source from the gate. The gate is supplied with a digital logic high voltage to turn on the main transistor. In a second aspect, an RF switch includes a main transistor that has a bulk terminal. When the RF switch is turned off, the bulk is connected to ground through a high resistance. When the RF switch is turned on, the source and bulk are shorted together thereby reducing the threshold voltage of the main transistor.

摘要: An RF transmitter capable of transmitting over a wide range of frequencies includes a mixer, a wideband high-Q balun, a first driver amplifier and a second driver amplifier. The balun has a single primary winding and two secondary windings. A differential output of the mixer is coupled to the primary winding. A first of the two secondary windings is coupled to drive the first driver amplifier. A second of the two secondary windings is coupled to drive the second driver amplifier. One driver amplifier is used when transmitting at lower frequencies whereas the other driver amplifier is used when transmitting at higher frequencies. By appropriate sizing of the inductances of the secondary windings and by switching out one of the secondary windings at certain times, the balun is tunable to operate over the wide frequency range while having a high quality factor Q, thereby facilitating reduced power consumption while simultaneously meeting performance requirements.

摘要: A wireless device for waveform scaling is disclosed. The wireless device includes a modulator that increases a magnitude of a peak digital code beyond a maximum available digital code for transmit power levels below a transmit power threshold to produce an adjusted digital code. The magnitude of the peak digital code is not increased beyond the maximum available digital code for transmit power levels above the transmit power threshold. The wireless device also includes a digital-to-analog converter that converts the adjusted digital code into an analog signal.
