摘要: An apparatus (50) for drilling a wellbore that transverses a subterranean hydrocarbon bearing formation. The apparatus (50) includes a drill string (52) having an inner fluid passageway (66). A drill bit (64) is disposed at a distal end of the drill string (52) and is operable to rotate relative to at least a portion of the drill string (52). A fluid motor (54) is disposed within the drill string (52) and is operable to rotate the drill bit (64) in response to a circulating fluid received via the inner fluid passageway (66) of the drill string (52). The fluid motor (54) has a stator (68) with (n) lobes and a rotor (70) with (n−1) lobes. The stator (68) includes an inner surface formed from a first material and the rotor (70) includes an outer surface formed from a second material that is dissimilar to the first material.

摘要: A variable stator vane assembly and a bushing thereof. The bushing includes a metal bushing body and a wear-resistant coating. The assembly includes a rotatable trunnion and a first metal bushing. The trunnion is capable of being located in a through hole extending between outer and inner surfaces of a compressor casing of a gas turbine engine. The first metal bushing is capable of being located in the through hole proximate the outer surface to surround a first portion of the trunnion when the trunnion is located in the through hole. The first metal bushing and the first portion have wear-resistant coatings which are in mutual contact, apart from any intervening lubricant, when the trunnion and the first metal bushing are located in the through hole and the trunnion is rotating with respect to the first metal bushing.

摘要: A method for repairing a turbine nozzle segment having at least two vanes disposed between outer and inner bands includes separating the outer and inner bands from the vanes, and forming one slot for each vane through the outer band and one slot for each vane through the inner band. A newly manufactured replacement vane is provided for each one of the original vanes. Each replacement vane has an outer boss formed on an outer end thereof and an inner boss formed on an inner end thereof. Then, each outer boss is inserted into a corresponding one of the outer band slots, and each inner boss is inserted into a corresponding one of the inner band slots. Once the parts are so assembled, each outer boss is welded to the outer band on the cold side, and each inner boss is welded to the inner band on the cold side. Each replacement vane is also brazed to the outer and inner bands on the respective hot sides thereof.

摘要: A time delay relay circuit of the present invention includes a power supply terminal, a relay having a first terminal connected to the power supply terminal, and a timing circuit, for activating the relay for a preset duration, having a supply input for receiving power for the timing circuit. Also included is a means for connecting the supply input of the timing circuit to the power supply terminal during operation of the timing circuit and activation of the relay and disconnecting the supply input of the timing circuit from the power supply terminal during non-operation of the timing circuit. The means connecting the supply input to the power supply terminal may be a switch which is closed and opened to start the preset duration time running within the timing circuit. During the preset duration, the switch remains open. The relay is closed making a connection between the power supply terminal and the supply input. In a preferred embodiment, a pair of diodes are arranged such that current is prevented from flowing toward the switch when the relay is closed and current is prevented from flowing toward the load when the relay is open. The time delay relay circuit prevents current flow through the circuit when the circuit is connected to a power supply and not in use.

摘要: Methods for repairing and restoring water manifold pipes, particularly locomotive diesel motor water manifolds exhibiting excessive corrosion around at least one water port. Exemplary methods include inserting a pipe segment into a selected water port and using the inserted pipe segment as a build-up or brazing form. Braze material is applied in one layers around and against the inserted pipe segment. Excess braze material and the pipe segment are thereafter removed in order to restore the manifold pipe to an original dimension.

摘要: A seal element (70) for providing a static or dynamic seal between two components (74, 78) in a downhole tool includes a polymer host material (212) and a plurality of nanostructures (220) forming a nanocomposite material (210). The polymer host material (212) has a plurality of regions of free volume (222) that receive the nanostructures (220). The nanostructures (220) and the polymer host material (212) form interfacial interactions that improve the useful life of the seal element (70) by minimizing seal failures associated with explosive decompression, extrusion, spiral failure, abrasion, temperature degradation and the like.
