摘要: An extendable truck trailer chassis having a movable rear section or extension. The extension is equipped with a gear rack whose teeth are adapted to mesh with teeth of an idler pinion which is mounted on the main frame and is, in turn, in mesh with a similar gear rack on a cradle carried on the chassis. With the cradle located at the rear of the frame, and the extension in its withdrawn position, the container is at the rear end of the chassis for unloading and loading. The sliding extension is adapted to be moved aft by any desired means to make the chassis longer. As the extension moves aft, its rack activates the pinion and this moves the cradle and its rack forward by a similar distance.

摘要: The method of assembling a large shipping container of the type adapted to be removably secured to the chassis of a tractor trailer on a production line basis includes producing rectangular front, rear top and bottom assemblies each having common locater points thereon, joining said assemblies to form a rectangular structure in a manner so that each locater point mates with another thereby producing a container with exact controlled external dimensions. At least one door is applied to the rear assembly.

摘要: The present invention is directed to a modular jail structure comprising a plurality of removable cells in adjacent relation arranged in a configuration to form an open area, a plurality of support columns removably coupled to the plurality of cells, and a roof supported by the plurality of support columns, covering at least the open area, such that the roof remains in place, supported by the support columns, when the plurality of cells are removed. It is also directed to a method of preparing and dismantling a jail facility comprising the steps of pre-fabricating a plurality of jail cells at a first site, preparing a foundation comprising at least one slab at a second site, transporting the plurality of jail cells to the second site, arranging the plurality of jail cells in at least one level in a configuration on at least one slab to create a central open area, coupling a plurality of support columns to the cells, erecting a roof supported substantially only by the support columns, and removing the arranged cells, when use of the jail facility is complete, leaving intact the roof supported by the support columns.

摘要: A twist lock for removably retaining a standardized container on a chassis in which a first gear quadrant is mounted on a shank of the lock for rotation therewith, a second gear quadrant is mounted for rotation within the chassis bolster and engaging the first gear quadrant, a handle to rotate the second gear quadrant and a latch mechanism associated with the handle whereby movement of the handle in one direction will rotate the twist lock 90.degree. to its locking position within the corner member of the container, and movement of the handle in the opposite direction will rotate the lock back to its unlocked position. The actuating mechanism of the lock is confined within the envelope of the bolster so that the handle wll not protrude behind the rear of the chassis and can be installed in a position in which the dirt, salt and splash of the rear wheels will be kept out of the actuating mechanism.

摘要: Cabinet units (26,28) are installed in a cargo container (2) and fully integrated into the container structure to enable them to withstand transportation forces. Each cabinet unit (26,28) includes a lower cabinet (26) and an attached upper cabinet (28). The units (26,28) are arranged in opposite rows along the container sidewalls (4). Adjacent units (26,28) are attached to each other. Each unit (26,28) is attached to an angle anchor beam (58) secured to the container floor (16) and to rails (88) secured to the container sidewalls (4). The frontmost units (26,28) abut the container front wall (10). Acceleration forces are transmitted from the cabinets (26,28) through a header (14) positioned above the container door (12) to the container structure. The rearmost upper cabinet (28) of each row has secured thereto a cabinet support member (116) which rotatably carries a screw (130). The screw (130) is rotated to abut a member (136) that engages the header (14) to provide a continuous load path for transmitting the forces.

摘要: A truck body floor construction in which transverse boards of standard length and width with holes pre-drilled in predetermined positions are secured to the side rails having pre-drilled holes in the same predetermined positions, whereby the flooring is self-jigging and the length of the flooring to accommodate different lengths of vehicle bodies can be readily effected by simply adding one or more boards. A novel tie-down means clamps the body to the longitudinal frame rails of a wheeled supporting frame easily and effectively, which means holds the body securely to the frame even when the truck body is subjected to fore and aft stops and sudden starts. This system eliminates the need for cross members and thereby does not necessitate advance information of axle location to provide wheel clearance, since the transverse floor system provides full length clearance.
