    摘要: A multi-stage latching device for a carburetor which controls the idle speed by defining various throttle plate positions according to deceleration sensor switch, air conditioning switch and ignition switch states. The mechanism which moves the throttle plate consists of a primary force coil which energizes an armature against spring return and the position of the armature coupled through a shaft establishes the idle speed. The throttle position is determined by any one of three adjustably disposed latch coils which when energized, magnetically couple to a casing to define a stop. A circuit control associated with each latch deenergizes the primary force coil while maintaining the magnetic coupling of the stop. With primary force off, the return spring forces the armature back against the energized stop and hence establishes the throttle position and idle speed.

    摘要: A rotational speed sensor (10) comprising a shaft (54) having a reluctor (50) mounted thereon and coacting with a complementary shaped stator (18). The reluctor (50) and stator (18) have coacting regularly spaced projections (20, 58) which are magnetizable so that as the reluctor (50) rotates with the shaft (54), there is developed a cumulative voltage output which in turn enables utilization of much greater air gaps between the respective projections (20, 58). Because of the greater latitude in the air gaps, it is possible to construct a variable reluctance speed sensor (10) much more economically and with less emphasis on cumulative manufacturing tolerances. This greater flexibility of manufacturing with higher manufacturing tolerances contributes materially to the attainment of an economical and reliable speed sensor.

    摘要: A leak tight position sensor or transducer (10) comprising a housing (12) having a cavity (32) with an opening (14) in one side and an aperture (16, 26) in each end of the housing (12). Located within the cavity (32) is a drive block (34) having bushing (36) with a threaded aperture (37) receiving the threaded end (42) of a shaft (40) made of a permanent magnet material. The threaded end (42) of the magnetic shaft (40) has a flat (44) and the other end (46) of the shaft is journalled in an aperture (16) of the housing (12). A metallic contactor (38) attached to the drive block (34) wipably engages an electrical circuit (54) printed on the interior surface (52) of a ceramic substrate (50) proportioned to seal the housing opening (14). Electrical wires (60) inserted through openings (58) in the substrate (50) are soldered to the circuit (54) and not only complete electrical connection and securement of the wires (60) to the circuit (54), but seal the openings (58) in the ceramic substrate (50). The ceramic substrate (50) is joined to the housing by an adhesive (70) which provides a leak tight sealing of the perimeter of the ceramic substrate (50) to the housing opening (14). The transducer (10) can be attached to a rotary diesel injection pump whereby fuel may enter into the interior of the housing (12) without leakage therefrom, and can be internally calibrated while attached to the pump.

The sensor includes a Kapton film substrate (32) having first a uniform coating of resistive material (34) disposed thereon, and then distinct islands formed by laser sculpting. Conductive material (50, 53, 55, 56, 57, 58), screen printed upon the resistive material before or after the laser sculpting, is connected to terminals (62, 68, 70) for the respective electrical elements (48, 51, 55). The flexible Kapton film substrate (32) is inserted endwise into the housing (10) with the side edges of the substrate curled upwardly and captured within longitudinal housing slots (28, 29) disposed along opposite housing walls (14, 16). The housing (10) is sealed by end closures (60, 90), one closures (60) having the terminations (62, 68, 70) connected to conductive paths (53, 56, 60) disposed on the respective electrical elements (48, 51, 55), and the other end closure (90) providing securement for an extension spring (104) and journalling for a shaft (116) attached to a combination slider-and-contactor (76, 77) disposed within the housing. Displacement of the shaft (116) stretches the extension spring (104) and effects a corresponding longitudinal movement of the contactor (77) along the resistive element (48) and collector path (51). An alternative embodiment includes an exterior magnetic actuator (134) located exteriorly of the housing (10) and coupled magnetically with the interiorly disposed slider (176) for movement therewith.

Displacement of the shaft (116) stretches the extension spring (104) and effects a corresponding longitudinal movement of the contactor (77) along the resistive element (48) and collector path (51). An alternative embodiment includes an exterior magnetic actuator (134) located exteriorly of the housing (10) and coupled magnetically with the interiorly disposed slider (176) for movement therewith.

    摘要: An electrodynamic acoustic transducer (54) having two voice coils (50, 52), the coils being addressed by amplified digital signals. The system (12, 60, 54) utilizes a preamplified analog input signal (10) which is supplied to a bifurcated network, one such signal being processed by an inverter (18). The analog signals (42, 44) are compared with triangular waves (38, 40) to effect switched signals (46, 48) that are pulse width modulated signals. The signals (46, 48) are then amplified through impedances (76, 78) and high speed, high current semiconductor switch means (80, 82) so that the amplified digital signals serve as driver means communicated to the separately addressable coilds (50, 52). There is a dynamic balance achieved by separate energization of the coils (50, 52) whereby the diaphragm (97) is positively located in both axial driving directions and is disposed in equilibrium positions by the energization and balancing of the respective coils (50, 52). As a result, the dynamic range, clarity, cleaness, and response time is substantially improved. An important aspect of this invention is the direct addressing of two distinct coils (50, 52) by amplified pulse trains which are of digital characteristic. The speaker (54) does not require mechanical restoring means but instead the suspension of the diaphragm (97) has a high compliance and serves only to maintain concentric relationship of the voice coils (50, 52) with the gap (92).

The single-point magnetic contact latch assembly is mounted to a crash stop of the memory storage device and engages a ferromagnetic portion of an actuator assembly used to position the read/write head along the storage device during off-power conditions, the latch assembly locating the read/write head over the landing zone to prevent damage to the memory storage device and the read/write head caused by physical contact between the two. An alternative embodiment of the magnetic latch assembly has a substantially spherically shaped core that also provides a single-point magnetic contact between the core and the actuation assembly.
