Abstract:
Provided is a video telephony apparatus and method for mobile terminals. The video telephony apparatus includes a controller, a display unit, a codec, and a content controller. The controller exchanges protocol signals for a video call with the other party terminal, and demultiplexes a moving image and a voice that are received from the other party terminal. The display unit displays the received moving image, and the codec plays the received voice. The content controller manages Right Objects (ROs) of multimedia contents received from the other party terminal, and captures the displayed moving image and the played voice according to the ROs. Accordingly, it is possible to protect portrait rights during the video call.

Abstract:
Disclosed are a phase locked loop (PLL) of a digital scheme and a method thereof. More specifically, disclosed are a digital phase locked loop having a time-to-digital converter (TDC), a digital loop filter (DLF), and a digitally controlled oscillator (DCO), and that is designed to have a constant jitter characteristic at all times even though an operating condition of a circuit varies according to a process, voltage, temperature (PVT) change, and a method thereof.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses an antenna for ultra-wideband (UWB) communication having a band-stop characteristic. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the UWB antenna is a patch antenna employing microstrip feeding. In order to expand a bandwidth at a low frequency band, a stub is formed in a radiating element. Furthermore, since steps are formed in a ground plane, an antenna characteristic at an intermediate frequency band can be improved and a UWB characteristic can be obtained. According to another embodiment of the present invention, the UWB antenna is a patch antenna employing microstrip feeding and has a recess formed in the ground plane, thereby implementing the UWB characteristic. The antenna of the present invention has an inverse U-shaped slot formed in the radiating element, thus implementing the band-stop characteristic at the UNII band. In addition, the antenna of the present invention has includes a ground plane having a small area and has omnidirectional radiating patterns accordingly.
Abstract:
Provided are an apparatus for and a method of generating millimeter waves, in which millimeter-wave generation and frequency up-conversion can be achieved at the same time using a single device. The apparatus includes a mode-locking laser diode (LD) which has a distributed feedback (DFB) sector and a gain sector and generates high-frequency optical pulses through a passive mode locking process, a modulator which modulates an external optical signal using an electric signal and injects the modulated optical signal to the mode-locking LD to lock the optical pulses, and a radio frequency (RF) locking signaling unit which injects the electric signal to the modulator.
Abstract:
There is provided a packet forwarding processing apparatus of a high speed routing system and a routing lookup method using the same. The packet forwarding processing apparatus includes: a routing table storage unit; a routing table management unit; and a routing table lookup unit. The routing table storage unit is used for storing routing table entries which are built based on a collected routing information. The routing table management unit is used for modifying, creating, and deleting the table entries of the routing table storage unit. The routing table lookup unit is used for looking up destination route information from the routing tables stored in routing table storage unit, in which the destination route information is associated with destination address extracted from an input data packet.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for selecting a QoS in a portable communication system are provided. The method includes, when using a high quality video communication service, sending a request for the high quality video communication service to a destination terminal using a Circuit Service Data (CSD) channel, receiving a reply message to the high quality video communication service request and, when the reply message is an acceptance of an execution of the high quality video communication service, disconnecting the CSD channel and then connecting a Packet Service Data (PSD) channel, and providing the high quality video communication service using the PSD channel.
Abstract:
A processor duplexing method is applied to a 3G mobile communication system switching operation without involving application software. In this method, Real-Time operating system (RTOS) detects that a duplexing operation is being performed. While the duplexing switching operation is being performed, the RTOS and a PCI controlling unit dump a memory of an active board to a standby board, thereby synchronizing a memory between the active board and the standby board. Once the duplexing switching operation is complete, the standby board sequentially starts operation of the active board. In this method, duplexing of a processor level is performed without using application software in the RTOS. Instead, duplexing is a performed by a substructure (hardware and OS). As a result the burden of having the application software grow larger and more complicated is significantly reduced.
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing a probe includes: forming a first slant face of the probe through an anisotropic etching process using a first etching mask pattern formed on a silicon substrate; forming a first semiconductor electrode region; forming a second etching mask pattern in an opposite direction of the first etching mask pattern on the silicon substrate; forming a spacer layer on a side wall of the second etching mask pattern; forming a second slant face of the probe; forming a second semiconductor electrode region; forming a silicon oxide layer pattern on the resulting silicon substrate; forming spacer layers on both side walls of the silicon oxide layer pattern; and etching the silicon substrate to a predetermined depth.
Abstract:
Provided are a data transceiver and method for performing equalization and pre-emphasis adaptive to the transmission characteristic of a transmitting part. The transceiver measures the signal attenuation characteristic of a transmission line of a receiving part using an input data signal input via the transmission line of the receiving part, decodes the distorted waveform of the input data signal, distorts the waveform of an output data signal beforehand using the measured signal attenuation characteristic of the transmission line of the receiving part, and transmits the output data signal via a transmission line of a transmitting part. Thus, when the output data signal is transmitted via the transmission line of the transmitting part, the waveform of the signal remains optimized.
