    摘要： A coated optical fiber includes an optical fiber having a core and an outer surface, and a homogeneous polymer coating in contact with the outer surface of the optical fiber. The optical fiber and the homogeneous polymer coating are UV transparent, and a refractive index of the outer surface of the optical fiber or the homogeneous polymer coating is up to 15% less than a refractive index of the core. Coating the optical fiber includes coating an outer surface with a polymerizable material and polymerizing the polymerizerable material to yield the coated optical fiber having a homogeneous polymer coating. The optical fiber and the homogeneous polymer coating are UV transparent, and a refractive index of the outer surface of the optical fiber or the homogeneous polymer coating is up to 15% less than a refractive index of a core of the optical fiber.

    摘要： A method for providing a video playback device with a source selection function includes: providing the video playback device with a user interface of the source selection function for displaying image representatives of a plurality of input terminals of the video playback device at the same time; and selecting a signal corresponding to a specific input terminal of the input terminals in response to user selection, in order to make images carried by the selected signal be displayed. An associated video playback device and an associated processing circuit are provided. In particular, the processing circuit includes: a controller arranged to control operations of the video playback device; and a program code embedded in the controller or received from outside the controller, where the controller executing the program code is arranged to provide the user interface of the source selection function for displaying the image representatives at the same time.

    摘要： A method for continuously decomposing ozone layer-depleting substances which comprises adding air serving as a photolytic reaction promoter to at least one member selected from the group consisting of CFCs, HCFCs, halons and halogen-containing organic solvents, subjecting the resultant mixture to irradiation with UV light, and separating the resultant solid product and the resultant halogen product from each other to render the at least one member harmless is described. The method comprises providing a refrigeration medium comprising a lubricating oil and the at least one member, separating the lubricating oil from the at least one member under normal temperature and normal pressure conditions, separating moisture to a full extent from a mixture consisting of the at least one member and air, and subjecting the mixture to photolytic reaction by irradiation with UV light, and separating and collecting the resultant halogen compound from the photolytic reaction product. An apparatus for carrying out the method is also described.
