Abstract:
Security articles and methods of personalizing security articles. Specifically, this disclosure relates to security articles that contain a security feature that is a composite image, where the composite image includes laser-personalized security information.
Abstract:
An article may include a biodata page defining a perimeter including an edge and a hinge layer attached to at least a portion of the biodata page. The hinge layer comprises a cross-linked polyurethane. In some examples, the hinge layer may include a cross-linked thermoset polyurethane.
Abstract:
Processing tapes have special properties to permit them to be used to prepare laminate articles, such as security articles. The processing tapes include a backing, a pressure sensitive adhesive layer and a release surface covering the pressure sensitive adhesive layer. The backing is a dimensionally stable transparent polymeric film, and the surface on which the pressure sensitive is coated may be a treated surface. The pressure sensitive adhesive is a transparent pressure sensitive adhesive that includes a crosslinked (meth)acrylate-based polymer and has a refractive index in the range of 1.45-1.55. The (meth)acrylate-based polymer includes alkyl (meth)acrylate monomers and may include acidic monomers.
Abstract:
Laser engravable films are disclosed. In one aspect, the laser engravable film of the present invention includes a monolayer film, preferably comprising polycarbonate, having a laser engraving additive and an antistatic composition mixed within the layer of polycarbonate. In another aspect, the laser engravable film of the present invention includes a first layer, preferably comprising polycarbonate, having an antistatic composition mixed within the first layer, and a second layer, preferably comprising polycarbonate, with laser engraving additives mixed within the second layer.
Abstract:
An article may include a flexible hinge comprising a first optical feature. The article also may include a biodata page comprising a second optical feature. The flexible hinge may be attached to a surface of the biodata page, and the second optical feature is substantially aligned with the first optical feature. The combination of the first optical feature and the second optical feature provides an optical effect, which may be destroyed or damaged if the flexible hinge is moved relative to the biodata page, e.g., if the flexible hinge is separated from the biodata page.
