摘要: Silicone-based pressure-sensitive adhesives, reaction mixtures used to form the pressure-sensitive adhesives, methods of making the silicone-based pressure-sensitive adhesives, and articles containing the silicone-based pressure-sensitive adhesives are described. More particularly, the silicone-based pressure-sensitive adhesives include silicone-based elastomeric materials that are prepared by polymerizing a silicone compound having at least two ethylenically unsaturated groups in the presence of actinic radiation (e.g., ultraviolet radiation) and a controlled radical initiator. The controlled radical initiator is a bis-dithiocarbamate or bis-dithiocarbonate compound having a single carbon between the two dithiocarbamate or dithiocarbonate groups.

摘要: Assay devices are provided including a receptacle having a sample entry port; a plunger disposed within the receptacle; at least one reagent; a membrane attached to a first surface of the plunger; a wick providing capillary force; and a detection zone. The membrane includes a target conjugate zone in which affinity components are disposed. Capture compounds are immobilized in a detection zone, which is located between the target conjugate zone and the wick. A method of detecting a target analyte is also provided, including providing the assay device; providing a sample suspected to contain a target analyte; adding the sample onto the device; allowing the sample to travel along the membrane until the sample reaches the detection zone; immobilizing the target analyte through reaction of the target analyte with the capture compounds; reacting the immobilized target analyte with a reagent to generate a detectable signal; and detecting the generated signal.

摘要: An azido-containing monomer, a polymer containing monomeric units derived from the azido-containing monomer, and various articles containing a substrate and a coating layer of the polymer positioned on the substrate are provided. The azido groups, which are pendant groups of the polymer, can undergo a click chemistry reaction with an unsaturated compound such as those having a terminal —C≡CH group, a dibenzocyclooctyne-containing group, an unsaturated bicyclic olefinic group, or an amido group. The click chemistry reaction can be used to covalently attach a fluorescent or bioactive compound to the polymer.

摘要: Silicone-based elastomeric materials, articles containing the silicone-based elastomeric materials, reaction mixtures used to form the silicone-based elastomeric materials, and methods of making the silicone-based elastomeric materials are described. The silicone-based elastomeric materials are prepared by polymerizing silicone compounds having at least two ethylenically unsaturated groups in the presence of actinic radiation and a controlled radical initiator. The controlled radical initiators are bis-dithiocarbamate or bis-dithiocarbonate compounds having a single carbon between the two dithiocarbamate or dithiocarbonate groups. The silicone-based elastomeric materials typically have improved mechanical properties compared to silicone-based elastomeric materials formed by free radical polymerization reactions in the presence of conventional photoinitiators.

摘要: Crosslinkable compositions are provided that contain a) a polymeric material having at least two terminal dithiocarbamate groups or two terminal dithiocarbonate groups and b) a monomer composition that includes at least a crosslinking monomer having two or more ethylenically unsaturated groups. The polymeric materials in the crosslinkable compositions undergo chain extension and crosslinking reactions when exposed to actinic radiation in the ultraviolet region of the electromagnetic spectrum. Additionally, crosslinked compositions, articles that contain the crosslinkable compositions or the crosslinked compositions, and methods of making the articles are provided.
