Abstract: An electrical busway assembly is provided. The electrical busway assembly includes a plurality of busbars having a length direction. Each busbar includes a conductor and a busbar insulator coating the conductor. The busway assembly further includes a bonding agent positioned between the plurality of busbars and bonding the plurality of busbars in the length direction. The bonding agent is configured to withstand an electromagnetic force caused by a current flowing through the plurality of busbars during a short circuit condition in the plurality of busbars. The plurality of busbars are coupled with one another without mechanical fasteners, and the busway assembly has a voltage rating in a low voltage range of 1000 Volts (V) or lower.

Abstract: The subject matter described herein includes a fan assembly for cooling an electric machine and an electric machine incorporating such a fan assembly. One exemplary fan assembly according to the subject matter described herein includes a first fan annulus for surrounding a portion of an electric machine. The fan assembly further includes a fan drive circuit for driving the first fan annulus separately from a drive mechanism of the electric machine. The first fan annulus is configured to be, when rotating to cool the electric machine, mechanically disconnected from a housing and a rotor of the electric machine and separated from the housing by radial gap.

Abstract: A method includes providing a conductor with a joint and a solution. In accordance with a step of the method, the conductor with the joint is inserted into the solution for a time sufficient to deposit a sufficient amount of conductive material in the joint to allow current to flow through the joint at a desired level when the conductor is installed in an application. In accordance with another aspect of the method, a structure with a joint is inserted into the solution for a time sufficient to deposit a sufficient amount of conductive material in the joint to strengthen the joint to a desired level. In accordance with another step of the method, an electromotive force is applied between an anode and the conductor for electolytic formation of the joint. In another aspect of the invention, the solution is configured for electroless formation of the joint.

Abstract: A rotor core mold assembly including a rotor stack and a distribution plate. The rotor stack has a top surface and at least one rotor pole defined by a plurality of rotor stack cavities. Each of the plurality of rotor stack cavities has an aspect ratio defined by a width of a respective rotor stack cavity and a longitudinal length of the rotor stack. The distribution plate has a top surface and a bottom surface removably locatable on the top surface of the rotor stack to thereby form a fluid seal. The distribution plate includes a flow channel positioned on the top surface of the distribution plate and extending through the distribution plate, an injection gate in fluid communication with the flow channel, and a plurality of secondary flow channels coupled between the injection gate and the bottom surface of the distribution plate in fluid communication with the injection gate.

Abstract: A method of monitoring a magnetic orientation of a composite magnetic material injected into a rotor pole of a rotor core. The rotor pole is defined by at least one rotor cavity. The method includes injecting a magnetic composite material into the at least one rotor cavity defining the rotor pole and applying an external magnetic field to the rotor pole to magnetically orient the magnetic composite material during injection into the at least one rotor cavity.
