Abstract: Antimicrobial system including a luminaire configured to emit a disinfection light in an ultraviolet band for disinfecting a vicinity of a target pathogen. A switching device that includes a primary relay pack. A control station, an arming switch, a room sensor, and a security challenge device. The security challenge device has a communication interface, an operator interface to receive a security challenge input from an operator, a processor, and security challenge device programming in a memory. Execution of the security challenge device programming by processor configures the security challenge device to perform the following functions. Receive the security challenge input from the operator via the operator interface. In response to receiving the security challenge input, generate a security challenge response signal. Send, via the communication interface, the security challenge response signal to enable the primary relay pack to control power to the luminaire to emit the disinfection light.

Abstract: The examples herein offer an improved, more integrated implementation of lighting control and building management control, e.g. within the same gateway or cloud computing/control element(s), via an integrated software architecture. A visualization platform of the software architecture provides an integrated user interface via network communication of the computing element with a user terminal device. The integrated user interface offers the user an integrated view of status of building automation control (BAC) appliances and luminaires within the premises, as well as integrated access to control operations of the BAC appliances and the luminaires. For example, the overall system of integrated lighting and building management control may offer a ‘single pane of glass’ type user interface for lighting and other managed operations in the premises. Also, the architecture may utilize a broker for publish-and-subscribe communications, for exchange of information between lighting and building management application and with the visualization platform.

Abstract: A lighting control system of networks and devices designed to allow scheduled events to continue to operate in the case of partial or full network operation and failure. The lighting control system can rely on any network controller to act as a schedule master that evaluates a schedule of time-based lighting control events. When failure of the acting schedule master occurs or network communication therewith, the lighting control system changes the scheduling master to a different network controller based on a fail over protocol. The failover protocol includes detecting when an acting schedule master controller stops working by, for example, failing to receive a keep-alive message at a different network controller within a predetermined amount of time. Upon detecting failure of the schedule master controller, a network controller with a different controller identifier takes over as the schedule master in accordance with a controller identifier evaluation or protocol.

Abstract: Systems and methods for creating and previewing a lighting effect, such as displaying an array of colors across a number of lighting fixtures are provided. A user may specify some of the colors for the array, as well as relative positions of the colors. A lighting management system determines transitional or intermediary colors and assigns the colors specified by the user, as well as the intermediary colors to the lighting fixtures. The resulting lighting effect may be displayed in a preview bar. The colors and the order of the colors may be edited to obtain a desired lighting effect.

Abstract: A method includes tracking one or more echoes of an original message sent from a battery-powered device in a wireless communication network. The battery-powered device includes a lighting control device or a phenomenon sensor. The method further includes adjusting a likelihood of designating a repeater for the battery-powered device based on the battery-powered device receiving an adjustment echo of the one or more echoes or one or more line-powered devices receiving the original message directly from the battery-powered device. The method further includes determining whether or not to designate a repeater for the battery-powered device based on the battery-powered device receiving a determination echo of the one or more echoes of the original message, or the one or more line-powered devices receiving the original message directly from the battery-powered device.

Abstract: A method of operating a controller includes: obtaining calibration data for a mounting orientation of the controller operating in a calibration mode based on obtaining first acceleration samples from an acceleration sensor; obtaining second acceleration samples from the acceleration sensor when a control switch is activated with the controller operating in a normal operating mode; performing a comparison of the second acceleration samples to the calibration data; based on the comparison, determining whether more than one of the second acceleration samples is not within a specified range; and in response to determining that more than one of the second acceleration samples is not within the specified range, causing the controller to operate in an anti-tamper mode.

Abstract: A lighting control system includes a control group including a plurality of member devices which includes a power monitor and an emergency luminaire. The power monitor includes a power supply driven by a normal power source. The power monitor implements the following function. Transmit, via a wireless lighting control network, a normal power active message to the control group repeatedly at a predetermined time interval. The emergency luminaire includes an emergency light source to continuously emit illumination lighting during an emergency, and a power supply driven by an emergency power line. The emergency luminaire implements the following functions. Track an active message gap time. Reset the active message gap time after receiving the normal power active message. In response to the tracked active message gap time exceeding an active message timeout, enter an emergency mode active state by controlling the emergency light source to continuously emit the illumination lighting.

Abstract: A multi-mode control device is provided for controlling an external load device. The control device includes a high-power interface, a low-power interface, and a control module. The high-power interface can be electrically coupled to a high-power module providing current from an external power source to the load device. The low-power interface can be electrically coupled to a low-power module. The high-power interface can receive a first current from the high-power module. The low-power interface can receive a second current from the low-power module that is less than the first current. The low-power interface can prevent the first current from flowing to the low-power module. The control module, which is electrically coupled to the high-power interface and the low-power interface, be powered by one or more of the first and second current.

Abstract: A luminaire or lighting control device includes a network interface with a transceiver configured for communication via a lighting control network for lighting control and systems operations. The device can include a light source to emit illumination lighting, a driver circuit to control operation of the light source, and a power supply. The device includes a processor coupled to the network interface, and a memory accessible to the processor that stores a battery level threshold. The device includes programming in the memory. Execution of the programming by the processor configures the device to implement the following functions. First, the device receives a lighting control message. Second, the device determines a battery level of a power switch. Finally, in response to the battery level of the power switch being less than the battery level threshold, the device controls the luminaire or another luminaire to enter a low battery mode.

Abstract: An example method includes, in response to receiving a gateway heartbeat message from a lighting system non-connected gateway RF node, incrementing a gateway heartbeat counter. In response to receiving a repeater RF node heartbeat message from a network RF node of lighting system non-connected network RF nodes set to a repeater role, incrementing a repeater heartbeat counter. In response to a cycle time exceeding a cycle time timeout, the gateway heartbeat counter not exceeding a gateway heartbeat threshold, and the repeater heartbeat counter exceeding a repeater heartbeat threshold, selecting a selected network RF node of the RF nodes set to the repeater role. Transmitting, via an extended star wireless network, a registration message to the selected network RF node. In response to transmitting the registration message and having a network RF node role state set to an unconnected role, setting the network RF node role state to a connected role.
