摘要: The invention provides a three layered reprographic paper having improved strength, stiffness and curl resistance properties, and a method for making same. The paper has a central core layer made largely of cellulose and bulked with a bulking agent such as a diamide salt. A starch-based metered size press coating is pressed on both sides of the core layer, wherein the starch has a high solid content. The coating forms a three layered paper having an I-beam arrangement with high strength outer layers surrounding a low density core.

摘要: Cationic radiation curable inks do not exhibit ghosting when coated over by a solvent, solventless and radiation curable silicone release coatings. When aggressive solvent borne adhesives are cast over the ink applied to a substrate, and peeled off after drying, no ghosting is observed. The result is the ability to print graphics onto a substrate and cover the substrate with a silicone release coating and a coat with an adhesive layer that retains acceptable clarity after removal of the release coating.

摘要: A unique primer emulsion chemistry yields excellent adhesion of polyethylene terephthalate (PET)resin to clay coated paperboard (with high starch content) at reduced coatweights of the primer emulsion and the resin as compared to other primer and tie-resin chemistries currently employed for moisture barrier applications. A primer used for adhesion enhancement is an ammonium catalyzed, self-crosslinking copolymer of ethylene-vinyl acetate with N-methylol acryl amide functional groups attached to a polymer backbone. Use of the primer in amounts up to about 0.5 pounds per ream permits PET coatweights of as low as 10-12 lbs per ream and lower for some applications.
