摘要: A tone display method for displaying a tone of an image in a display system which divides a time width of a field of an image signal into a plurality of weighted subfields and controls operation of the subfields. The tone display method includes the steps of coding the image signal in the plurality of weighted subfields the plurality of weighted subfields including a plurality of most significant subfields having respective weights which are substantially equal to one another, and a plurality of less significant subfields having respective weights each of which is less than each of the weights of the most significant subfields, a sum of all of the weights of the less significant subfields being greater than each of the weights of the most significant subfields, the coding being chosen from a plurality of codings all representing substantially a same tone level when a tone level of the image signal is not less than each of the weights of the most significant subfields, and displaying the image signal coded with the chosen coding.

摘要: A intra-field time division tone display method for dividing the time width in a field of a TV signal into a plurality of subfields in the pixel storing time direction and displaying the TV image by controlling the presence or absence of light emission of the subfields and an apparatus therefor, wherein there are at least two subfields (most significant subfields) whose luminant time widths are longest and almost equal and when it is assumed that the tones are displayed in the ascending order starting from the lowest level of tone in light emission of the subfields, the tone of a TV image signal is displayed under a rule that two or more light emissions are not started from the aforementioned at least two most significant subfields at the same time, accordingly the dynamic false contour noise of a moving image followed by movement of the viewing point can be reduced remarkably and a moving image of high image quality and high quality can be obtained.

The method differs the position of the halftone image on the display unit from subframe to subframe in each frame. The method is capable of displaying dynamic halftone images without intensity level disturbance, smears, or false color contours.

摘要: A method of displaying a dynamic halftone image on a display panel made of pixels divides each frame of the image into subframes and turns on and off the subframes. The method includes the steps of finding a line of pixels that simultaneously display a specific intensity level in a frame and another specific intensity level in the next frame, counting the number of pixels in the line, selecting corrective pulses, which turn on/off corresponding subframes to enable/disable corresponding intensity levels, according to the counted number and a change in the specific intensity levels between the frames, and adjusting original display signals for the pixels in the line according to the corrective pulses, respectively. The method eliminates halftone disturbance and false color contours from the image even if the moving speed of the image on the display panel is high.

摘要: A plasma display panel, one of flat panel display device, having improved electrical connections and the driving method thereof are disclosed. The plasma display panel and the driving method thereof have the advantage of diminishing the number of the high voltage driving ICs of high price by effectively constituting the connections of the discharge electrodes to diminish the number of the driving circuits. In addition, since the total scan electrodes are divided into two blocks, and are driven sequentially and alternately from a block to another, the influence of crosstalks by the leakage of the space charge may be diminished by disposing scan electrodes concurrently impressed with voltage signals to be relatively far apart.

摘要: In order to operate a discharge apparatus, a first voltage having a first frequency is applied to electrodes. Moreover, a second voltage having a second frequency higher than the first frequency is applied to the first voltage. The waveform of the voltage having the second frequency may be an attenuated one which is synchronized with the first frequency. As a result of this voltage superposition, the electrons, ions, or plasma in the already established discharge fluctuate with the change in the electric field. If the second frequency is selected to be equal or close to the resonance frequency of the electrons, ions, or plasma existing in the already established discharge, there occurs the resonance phenomenon of the electrons, ions, or plasma. This phenomenon raises the temperature of those particles. As a result, the electron temperature approaches to a value preferable for emission of visible light or ultraviolet rays so that the luminous efficiency is improved.
