摘要: A method displays a halftone image on a display unit by using a frame division technique that divides each frame of the halftone image into subframes each having a specific sustain discharge period to provide a specific intensity level. The method differs the position of the halftone image on the display unit from subframe to subframe in each frame. The method is capable of displaying dynamic halftone images without intensity level disturbance, smears, or false color contours.

摘要: A method of displaying a dynamic halftone image on a display panel made of pixels divides each frame of the image into subframes and turns on and off the subframes. The method includes the steps of finding a line of pixels that simultaneously display a specific intensity level in a frame and another specific intensity level in the next frame, counting the number of pixels in the line, selecting corrective pulses, which turn on/off corresponding subframes to enable/disable corresponding intensity levels, according to the counted number and a change in the specific intensity levels between the frames, and adjusting original display signals for the pixels in the line according to the corrective pulses, respectively. The method eliminates halftone disturbance and false color contours from the image even if the moving speed of the image on the display panel is high.

摘要: A full color three electrode surface discharge type plasma display device that has fine image elements and is large and has a bright display. The three primary color luminescent areas are arranged in the extending direction of the display electrode pairs in a successive manner and an image element is composed by the three unit luminescent areas defined by these three luminescent areas and address electrodes intersecting these three luminescent areas. Further, phosphors are coated not only on a substrate but also on the side walls of the barriers and on address electrodes. The manufacturing processes and operation methods of the above constructions are also disclosed.

摘要: A plasma display panel assembly includes electrodes and a dielectric layer covering the electrodes. The dielectric layer is formed of a low-melting-point glass, and the electrodes are formed of a metal containing a crystallized glass. The metal and the low-melting-point glass are simultaneously fired to complete the electrodes and the dielectric layer. Thus, in a manufacturing process of an AC plasma display panel, the number of firing steps can be reduced.

摘要: A method and circuit of driving a flat display panel formed of a plurality of cells each having a memory function, wherein the cells are formed at cross points of a plurality of X-electrodes and a plurality of Y-electrodes orthogonal to the X-electrodes and a period of a frame for displaying a single picture is divided into a plurality of sequential subframes. Each of the subframes comprises an addressing period, during which cells to be lit later in a display period are selected from all the cells by being written so as to have a wall charge therein, and a display period, subsequent to the address period, for lighting the selected cells by applying sustain pulses to all the cells. A number of sustain pulses included in each display period is predetermined differently for each subframe, according to a weight given to each subframe. Gradation of visual brightness of each cell is determined by the accumulated number of the sustain pulses included in the subframes that are selectively operated during a single frame according to a required brightness level for each cell. An adequate time accumulation is thereby allocated to a required number of subframes to achieve a quality brightness-gradation for each cell.

摘要: In a method and circuit of driving a flat display panel formed of a plurality of cells each having a memory function, where the cells are formed at cross points of a plurality of X-electrodes and a plurality of Y-electrode orthogonal to the X-electrodes, a period of a frame for displaying a single picture is divided into a plurality of sequential subframes. Each of the subframes comprises: an addressing period during which cells to be lit later in a display period are selected from all the cells by being written by having a wall charge therein; and the display period subsequent to the address period for lighting the selected cells by applying sustain pulses to all the cells. A number of the sustain pulses included in each display period is predetermined differently for each subframe according to a weight given to each subframe. Gradation of visual brightness of each cell is determined by the accumulated number of the sustain pulses included in the subframes that are selectively operated during a single frame according to a required brightness level for each cell. Thus, an adequate time length can be allocated to required number of subframes to achieve a quality brightness-gradation for each cell.

The method includes the steps of applying a firing voltage across a display electrode pair to generate discharges in the display cells defined by the display electrode pair, generating a discharge in select cells corresponding to non-selected display cells, thereby eliminating the wall charge in and erasing the non-selected display cells, and applying a sustaining voltage across the display electrode pair to maintain discharges in the selected display cells.
