The present invention provides a process for producing toner which has very narrow particle size distribution and contains a uniformity dispersed pigment therein. The process comprises dispersion-polymerizing(I) a pigment paste comprising (A) a pigment grinding agent having basic groups, acidic groups or the both, (B) a pigment and (C) vinyl monomers,(II) a polymerization initiator and(III) a dispersion polymerization stabilizerin a dispersion medium which dissolves said vinyl monomers (C) and dispersion polymerization stabilizer (III) and which does not dissolve polymerized resin particles.

The present invention provides a process for producing toner particles having small particle size and small particle size distribution which uniformly contain a polyolefin wax in high yield by a simple process. That is, according to the present invention, there is provided a process for producing a toner which comprises dissolving or dispersing a polymerizable composition comprising:(I) a vinyl monomer,(II) an acrylic resin-grafted polyolefin, and(III) a colorantin a dispersion solvent and then polymerizing it, wherein no resin deposition occurs when the acrylic resin-grafted polyolefin (II) is dissolved or dispersed in a mixed solution of one volume of the vinyl monomer (I) and two or more volumes of the dispersion solvent.

Disclosed is a process for preparing polymer particles suitable for electrophotographic toner. The substantially spherical resin particles have a weight average particle size of 1 to 30 microns and contain a carbon atom as main component, a silicon atom in an amount of 1.times.10.sup.-1 to 7% by weight and/or a fluorine atom in an amount of 1.times.10.sup.-2 to 2% by weight. The particles are prepared by polymerizing a polymerizable monomer in an organic solvent having a higher solubility parameter (SP value) than the resultant polymer by at least 1.0 in the presence of a dispersion stabilizer which is soluble in said organic solvent and which has a dialkylsiloxane bond and/or a fluorine atom, and then removing said organic solvent.

According to the present invention, there is provided a method of manufacturing resin granules with a grain diameter of 1.about.100 .mu.m and narrow grain size distribution by controlling the cloud point of polyvinyl alcohol and other water soluble polymers.

There are provided a photosetting type bio-based coating composition and its coated article, wherein the coating composition has a sufficient hydrolysis resistance and a sufficient crosslinking density so as to be excellent in such as long-term stability, and is inexpensive, and is applicable also to an aqueous solvent. The photosetting type bio-based coating composition according to the present invention is characterized by comprising: a bio-based photopolymerizable compound as a film-forming ingredient which compound has at least one lactic acid unit and at least one photopolymerizable group together in a molecule; and a photopolymerization initiator. The coated article according to the present invention is characterized by being obtained by being coated with the aforementioned coating composition.
