    Abstract: A composition for fixing wound items is provided. In one example, the composition comprises 5 to 97 wt % of at least one α,β-unsaturated polyester resin and/or α,β-unsaturated polyester imide resin comprising components of at least one α,β-ethylenically unsaturated mono-, di- and/or tricarboxylic acid, and/or its anhydride and/or ester, at least one polyol, at least one (meth)acrylic group containing component, possibly at least one mono-, di-, tri- and/or tetracarboxylic acid, which is not α,β-ethylenically unsaturated, and/or its anhydride and/or ester.

    Abstract: A self-sensitive polymerizable liquid resin is provided, which contains an uncrosslinked Michael addition reaction product of the following components: a Michael donor, a Michael accepter and optionally a viscosity modifier. The Michael accepter has 5 to 18 acryloyl functional groups. The self-sensitive polymerizable liquid resin of the present invention is capable of being used as an aid in a coating composition and providing a good property in deep radiation curing, and is particularly applicable in color coatings.

    Abstract: Resins derived significantly from renewable or recyclable starting materials may be formed from the reaction product of a monomer blend that includes an ethylenically unsaturated macromonomer and at least one other ethylenically unsaturated monomer, which may be acid functional. The ethylenically unsaturated macromonomer may be derived from the reaction of an acid functional intermediate, which may be the acidolysis reaction product of an engineered polyester and an acid or anhydride functional material with an hydroxyl-functional, amine-functional, or epoxy functional reactant, optionally in the presence of a polyacid, to yield a resin intermediate, which may subsequently be reacted with an ethylenically unsaturated coupling agent to yield the macromonomer. The resins described herein are useful in generating low VOC acrylic alkyd coatings. Methods of producing water reducible resins are also described.
