    摘要: An image forming apparatus includes: a discharge tray having a supporting surface supporting a recording medium; a discharge mechanism which has a discharging slot through which the recording medium on which an image is formed is discharged and is provided to discharge the recording medium from the discharging slot in a discharge direction which is a direction toward a space vertically above the supporting surface of the discharge tray; and a press down unit which is configured to relatively move toward and away from the supporting surface with respect to the discharge tray, the press down unit being relatively moved away when contacting with a downstream end in the discharge direction of the recording medium discharged onto the discharge tray by the discharge mechanism, and applying the own weight to the downstream end of the recording medium when the recording medium is supported by the supporting surface.

    摘要: A conveyance device includes a linear encoder that outputs an encoder signal corresponding to displacement of a conveyed object. The encoder includes an encoder fence provided on an intersecting plane that intersects a reference plane orthogonal to a direction in which a guide element supports the conveyed object. The encoder fence is configured such that a plurality of light-transmitting portions and light-shielding portions are arranged alternately on a side of the encoder fence. The light-transmitting portions and the light-shielding portions are formed so that a first point on each boundary between each of the light-transmitting portions and each of the light-shielding portions adjacent to each other and a second point on the each boundary, which is positioned separately from the first point with respect to a direction along the side of the encoder fence and perpendicular to the conveying direction, are separately positioned with respect to the conveying direction.

    摘要: A drive roller and the follower roller defines a nip line therebetween. A recording medium has a leading edge provided with a first corner contactable with the drive roller and a second corner contactable with the follower roller at a contact line when the drive roller and the follower roller provide the nip line. A supporting unit supports the follower roller and is capable of retracting the follower roller away from the nip line in a retracting plane. The retracting plane contains the axis of the follower roller. An angle α1 and α2 greater than the angle α1 is defined between the retracting plane and an imaginary plane that contains the axes of the drive roller and follower roller. The supporting unit allows the follower roller to be retracted in a downstream side of the paper conveying direction with respect to the imaginary plane. The angle α1 is greater than an angle β defined between the imaginary plane and a radial plane passing through the second axis and the contact line.
