By the present process (3S, 3'S)-astaxanthin can be produced in an almost 100% purity.

    摘要: A cooling medium and a cooling device for optical equipment using the same, which cooling medium has a refractive index in a specific range, hardly causes the problem to dissolve or swell plastic lens and other component parts, and is flame retardant. The cooling medium comprises a cyclic aliphatic hydrocarbon having at least one cross linkage and has a flash point of 120° C. or above and a melting point of −20° C. or below. The space between a pair of transparent optical members of a cooling device for optical equipment, is filled with the cooling medium.

    摘要: A process for the production of hydroxocobalamin that eliminates cyanocobalamin as an intermediate. Co-enzyme-type vitamin B.sub.12 is first absorbed to a divinylbenzene/styrene resin which is washed with warm water and then eluted with a solution containing at least 25% of a lower alcohol. The eluate is then irradiated with a light that causes the conversion of coenzyme-type vitamin B.sub.12 to hydroxocobalamin. Finally, the solution of hydroxocobalamin is treated with alumina or silica which binds the impurities leaving behind the highly purified hydroxocobalamin in the flow-through.
