摘要: A liquid crystal display apparatus having a pair of substrates of which at least one is transparent; and a liquid crystal layer supported between the pair of substrates, in which one of the pair of substrates has a plurality of row lines and a plurality of row lines, and pixels are placed corresponding to intersections of the plurality of row lines and the plurality of row lines. A first pixel electrode and a second pixel electrode are provided in the pixel, and a first active element is placed in the pixel and an output terminal thereof is connected to one row line adjacent to the first pixel electrode and the pixel, and a second active element is placed in the pixel and its output is connected to the other row line adjacent to the second pixel electrode. The first and second active elements are brought into conduction during a period of writing a voltage to a liquid crystal, and the first and second active elements are brought into a high resistance state during a holding period, and a difference voltage between the adjacent row lines is applied to the liquid crystal to display an image. A capacitance between the row line and the first pixel electrode and that between the row line and the second pixel electrode are equal as to each row line adjacent to the pixel.

摘要: A color filter layer includes a first filter, a second filter, and a third filter of different colors. Further, the color filter layer includes a fourth filter of a color same as that of one of the three filters, and a black matrix partitioning the four filters. A hole is formed on the fourth filter. The hole extends in the direction along the first line portion of the black matrix, and the first line portion forms a part of the edge of the hole. With this structure, it is possible to prevent variation in the area ratio of a hole formed in the fourth sub-pixel for improving brightness in a liquid crystal display panel.

摘要: A liquid crystal display including a blink backlight system light source and a liquid crystal panel for adjusting the amount of light transmitted from the light source. The light source is made of a plurality of light emitting tubes each having one or more kinds of phosphors, and having a turned-on state and a turned-off state within one frame. A luminance factor area of light from each of the phosphors is substantially equal to that of light from any other phosphor in at least one of a luminance rise time when the light source changes from the turned-off state to the turned-on state and a luminance fall time when the light source changes from the turned-on state to the turned-off state.
