    摘要: A system and method are disclosed employing a dielectric mirror layer, highly reflective at wavelengths below a cut off but highly transparent at wavelengths above the cut off, is placed within a display assembly. This dielectric mirror layer creates a very efficient reflecting cavity for a portion of a Light Emitting Diode (LED) pumping spectrum. Accurate dielectric filter tuning allows an increased portion of the pumping spectrum to be converted to desired wavelength spectrum and also raise the luminance ratio of the display to a useful value for display applications. Variable and active tuning of the cut off wavelength value functions to optimize system performance.

    摘要: A new and improved laser light beam homogenizer for transforming a laser beam with spatially inhomogeneous intensity into a beam with a more nearly spatially uniform intensity pattern is presented. The light beam is diverged by a lens and presented to an integrator. The integrator transforms the beam into a beam with a more uniform illumination. The uniform illumination beam is then impinged on control optics to limit the divergence of the uniform beam and control higher order distortion in the system. This beam may then be illuminated at a predetermined distance by a projecting optic lens. The laser light beam homogenizer of this invention is particularly well suited for use in an imaging lidar system.

    摘要: A flexible filter for use in filtering wavelengths of light that interfere with night vision awareness systems is disclosed. A filtering material is applied to a first flexible film in a substantially liquid form and is cured thereto using ultraviolet light. The filtering material filters wavelengths of light between about 610 and 930 nanometers when cured. A second flexible film is temporarily held in place by a support member. The second flexible film is applied to the cured filtering material and is fused thereto using a combination of increased temperature and pressure for a predetermined time. The first and second flexible films are made of polyurethane.

    摘要: A light emitting diode (LED) night vision imaging system (NVIS) lens apparatus for use in filtering of a plurality of night-mode LEDs is provided. The lens apparatus includes an optical carrier material having a plurality of apertures disposed and arranged such that, when the lens apparatus is coupled to an LED backlight, each of the plurality of apertures allows light from a corresponding day-mode LED to be transmitted therethrough without filtering. The lens apparatus also includes filter material coupled to and supported by the optical carrier material. The filter material is disposed and arranged on the optical carrier material such that, when the lens apparatus is coupled to the LED backlight, light from each of a plurality of night-mode LEDs is filtered by the filter material.     摘要: A variably controlled LCD backlight is disclosed. The backlight includes a first light source that emits light within a first spectral power distribution and has a first radiant power output. A second light source emits light within a second spectral power distribution and has a second radiant power output. A detector detects the first and second radiant power outputs. A processor is connected to the detector and calculates chromaticity and luminance values of the emitted light based on the first and second radiant power outputs. The processor compares the calculated chromaticity and luminance values with desired chromaticity and luminance values, respectively. A controller is operationally connected to the processor and adjusts one or more of the first radiant power output and the second radiant power output in response to a difference between the calculated chromaticity and luminance values and the desired chromaticity and luminance values.
