摘要: Apparatus for processing photographic sheet material including at least two rollers which are rotatively supported on corresponding shafts and biased together by springs acting on one of the shafts is provided with a mechanism operable to separate the rollers. The mechanism consists of a cam carried in normally free-wheeling relation on at least one end of one of the shafts, a cooperating cam follower carried on at least one end of the other shaft and a clutch that can be actuated to engage each such cam on its shaft for temporary rotation therewith to thereby displace the cam into contact with a cam follower and bring about separation of the roller shafts and the rollers supported thereon. The ends of the shaft acted on by the springs is preferably journaled in bearing blocks arranged in a frame for sliding movement towards and away from the other shaft and biased by the springs toward the other shaft. Preferably, the clutch is a one-way clutch that permits free rotation of the cam when the one shaft is rotating in one direction and engages to rotate the cam with the shaft when the shaft is caused to rotate in the other direction. Each cam is held in a given position relative to the frame when free-wheeling on its shaft by a detent abutting against a part of the frame.

摘要: In a digital printer the elements involved directly in the print process, which are located on a shuttle assembly are mounted upon a metrological frame which is isolated from the base frame by vibration dampers. Because the elements of the shuttle drive systems, such as a belt drive system having a motor and pulleys, are mounted upon the base frame, the drive and reaction forces from the motor drive systems are led to the base frame while the shuttles assembly is guided by the force-free, vibration free metrological frame. This allows for higher accuracy during printing as the metrological frame serves as a vibration free reference element.

摘要: A digital printer includes a digital printing unit for digital printing an image onto a printing substrate during relative movement between a print head and the printing substrate, and a printing table for holding the printing substrate during the digital printing. The printing table is firmly fixed to the digital printing unit during the digital printing of the image onto the printing substrate and is released from the digital printing unit prior to and after the digital printing of the image onto the printing substrate. The printing table may be moved between a printing position, in which it is firmly fixed to the digital printing unit, and a printing substrate feeding position, in which it supports feeding and removing of the printing substrate from the printing table.

摘要: To avoid possible damaging collisions of a printhead with small receiver defects and other obstacles in a digital printer using a printhead mounted on a scanning shuttle for recording an image on a receiver while scanning along the receiver, a method using the following steps is used:—sensing for possible obstacles having a size smaller and larger than the inkjet head-receiver clearance distance in an area of the receiver to be scanned over by the printhead using a sensor system mounted on the scanning shuttle,—avoiding a collision of the printhead with the obstacle when an obstacle is sensed. Preferably an evaluation step is include to evaluate is a detected obstacle is evaluated to be potentially damaging. A system for using the steps is also disclosed.

摘要: A housing (10) defines a liquid treatment chamber (12). The chamber (12) has entrance and exit openings (16, 18) each closed by a pair of co-operating path defining rollers (20), rotatable about a horizontal axis (26) and in contact with each other to form a nip (22) through which a material transport path segment (24) extends. Sealing means (28) seal the path defining rollers (20) to the housing (10). A drip tray (30) is so shaped and positioned as to collect treatment liquid dripping from the roller (20), both when the material path segment (24) is vertical and when it is horizontal. The vessel may be connected in a closed manner to one or more further treatment vessels to constitute a apparatus for processing photographic material. The vessel can be successfully used in either orientation.

摘要: A method for thermally processing a sheet of a thermographic material provides good flatness and dimensional stability together with a high optical homogeneity. The method incorporates the steps of supplying a sheet of thermographic material m (1) to a thermal processor (10) having a processing chamber (12), heating the processing chamber to a predetermined processing temperature, and transporting the sheet of thermographic material through the processing chamber in a sinuous way (4). This transporting is carried out by a first drivable belt (21), a second drivable belt (22) and backing means (27).

摘要: Upon a substrate subsequent layers of elastic ink are jetted using an ink jet printing system. Each layer is immobilised by a immobilisation step before jetting the following layer.A printing relief is gradually formed to obtain a flexographic printing plate allowing accurate control over the relief and slopes of the printing plates.Use can be made of different inks or immobilisation step to obtain different layer characteristics.Inks can be immobilised using UV curing. The recorded relief of the layers can be measured and corrections can be applied using a feed-back loop.A rejuvenation process for printing plates can be constructed using the described method. An elastic base layer can be provided on the substrate to provide better plate characteristics.
