    摘要: A filtering method is proposed wherein first several filtering steps (I-III, IV-VI) are made. Each step (I-III,IV-VI) includes: generating a filtered signal (I,IV), rounding this filtered signal (II,V) to a certain accuracy and combining (III,VI) the rounded signal with the input signal, whereby a filter error is obtained. The filtered signals are combined (VII) to a first filtered signal that is rounded (VIII) and combined (IX) with the input signal, whereby a coded signal is obtained. This allows to adapt the rounding step (II,V) and the combining step (III,VI) in each filtering step to specific filter design. Thereby limit cycles are reduced, the first filtered signal is available for further processes and the rounding can be inverted in the reverse process. Further a filter method for the reverse process, filter devices (1,10) able to perform these methods and devices (20,30,40,50,60) containing such devices are provided.

The apparatus further comprises encoding means for lossless encoding into an encoded packet of digital data, and composition means for adding the associated checksum to the encoded packet to form an encoded signal. Associated are a method and apparatus for decoding the encoded signal, comprising extracting means for receiving the encoded signal and extracting the encoded packet and associated checksum, decoding means for decoding the encoded packet into a decoded packet comprising the input digital signal, second calculation means for calculating a checksum for the decoded packet, and output means for outputting the decoded packet as an output signal if the calculated checksum corresponds with the extracted checksum.

    摘要: A basic idea of the present invention is to selectively employ one of at least two different feature extraction processes when generating a biometric template of an individual. An individual offers a physiological property, such as a fingerprint, an iris, an ear, a face, etc., from which biometric data can be derived, to a sensor of an enrollment authority. In the following, the property to be discussed will be fingerprints, even though any suitable biometric property may be used. From the fingerprint, a positional reference point of the biometric data is derived. The derivation of the positional reference point may be accomplished using any appropriate method out of a number of known methods. Such a reference point could be the location of a core, a delta, a weighted average of minutiae coordinates, or alike. Typically, the reference point includes a core of a fingerprint expressed as a three-dimensional coordinate denoted by means of xr, yr, and angle αr. A contribution indicator is calculated for the derived positional reference point, and it is determined whether the derived positional reference point can be considered reliable. Depending on the reliability of the derived reference point, one of the two different feature extraction processes is selected; either the first feature set is extracted using a method which is invariant of the derived reference point, or a method is used taking into account the derived reference point. The better the estimation of the reference point is, the more reliable the reference point-dependent extraction method is. Finally, the biometric template is generated using the extracted first feature set.

Monitoring data are used when determining consumption tariffs, so as to encourage energy efficient usage of the device.
