    Abstract: A sensor assembly specially adapted for use as a crash sensor for motor vehicle applications. The sensor assembly includes a connector housing assembly and a separate sensor element. The sensor element is formed with a pair of spade type terminals. The sensor element is received by a passageway within the housing assembly which further incorporates receiving terminals connected with electrical pigtail wires. The assembly housing incorporates features for secure mounting of the unit to a vehicle or other device, and provide accurate location when needed for directional sensing. The unit provides a snapfit assembly of the sensor element and includes features for preventing improper assembly of the unit and provides a desired mechanical connection between the sensor element and the associated vehicle.

    Abstract: Optical systems can emit train(s) of light pulses onto objects to derive a distance between the light source and the object. Achieving meter or centimeter resolution may require very short light pulses. It is not trivial to design a circuit that can generate narrow current pulses for driving a diode that emits the light pulses. An improved driver circuit has a pre-charge path comprising one or more inductive elements and a fire path comprising the diode. Switches in the driver circuit are controlled with predefined states during different intervals to pre-charge current in the one or more inductive elements prior to flowing current through the fire path to pulse the diode.

    Abstract: An infrared thermal camera can be installed in a vehicle, such as a car, to provide different capabilities including night vision, passenger temperature monitoring, liveness detection, and avoidance of collisions with animals. The camera may be located inside the vehicle facing outwards through the front windshield. The camera may be used in multiple modes.     Abstract: Improved flash light detection and ranging (also referred to herein as “flash LIDAR”) systems and methods for determining the distance to a target object disposed in a field-of-view. A flash LIDAR system can include an array of illuminators, an array of light detectors, and a signal processor/controller, as well as have a field-of-view in which a target object may be disposed.
