Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for the continuous heat treatment of steel strip material whose thickness d1, d2 periodically varies along its length, more particularly of strip flexibly rolled with a roll gap varying as a function of time, wherein the continuous heat treatment of the strip material takes place while the strip material passes through an induction furnace in which the strip material is induction heated at a constant frequency which can be selected to be such that the mathematical induction depth δ of the induced current up to which the magnetic field has been reduced to 63% of the field strength of the outer field is greater than half the thickness of the strip portions with the smallest thickness d2.
Abstract:
A motor vehicle body which is joined together out of individual elements, more particularly hollow profiles and planar elements consisting of sheet metal, wherein use is made of at least some individual elements consisting of flexibly rolled sheet metal whose sheet metal thickness varies along one direction and in the case of which the distribution width of the specific load across the individual element is reduced or minimized by the selection of the sheet metal thickness distribution.
Abstract:
A B column of a motor vehicle having a high strength and rigidity in the attachment area of door hinges and door locks and able to protect the occupants of the vehicle in the event of a side crash is provided. The B column includes a reinforcement plate, which extends over the entire height of the B column. Because the requirements for this reinforcement plate are not equally great in all areas, the reinforcement plate is a reshaped tailored rolled blank. The tailored rolled blank is produced by flexible rolling and has different thicknesses transversely to the rolling direction. It is thus especially thick in the areas on which especially high strength and rigidity requirements are placed, while it is implemented as correspondingly thin in the areas which must only fulfill low strength and rigidity requirements.
Abstract:
A process of producing profiles whose cross-section is variable in the longitudinal direction, characterized by the process stages of cutting a blank 31 with a substantially constant width along a longitudinal direction, deforming the blank 31 by deep-drawing to form an open profile whose cross-section is variable along the longitudinal direction, and cutting the flanges projecting from the open profile.
Abstract:
A flange tube consisting of plate metal, having a closed cross-section and comprising at least one flange which is integrally produced from the plate metal of the tube body and which extends in the longitudinal direction.

Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for manufacturing tubes and profiles with variable wall thickness over the length. The method comprises the steps of flexible rolling of continuous material strip with variable thickness in the longitudinal direction of the strip material to a final wall thickness which is continuously reduced with respect to the original wall thickness, reshaping the material strip to form a continuous tube or profile and cutting to length individual tube or profile pieces from the continuous tube or profile.

Abstract:
A spring strut tube assembly having an outer container tube, or tubular member and a spring plate. One end of the tube can be closed by a bottom part and the other end of the tube can comprise an aperture and a slid-on spring plate. The tubular member can be produced from a flexibly rolled flat material whose wall thickness is variable in the longitudinal direction. The tube is formed in a direction transverse to the longitudinal direction, and can be welded in the longitudinal direction.
Abstract:
A metal strip rolling system (18), having a first reeling device (21) for reeling-off strip (18), a rolling stand (12) having at least two working rolls (13, 14) between which there is formed a roll gap (17) whose width is controllable, and a second reeling device (31) used for reeling-on strip (18) with a reduced strip thickness. A first strip storage assembly (23) having a plurality of rolls is positioned between the first reeling device (21) and the rolling stand (12), and a second strip storage assembly (33) having a plurality of rolls is positioned between the rolling stand (12) and the second reeling device (31). At least one of the strip storage assemblies (23, 33) is formed of a double roll assembly with strip being wrapped around two rolls (24, 25; 34, 35) in an S-like way, the rolls (24, 25; 34, 35) being arranged at different levels.
