摘要: The present invention overcomes the limits of activated carbons, ion exchange resin beads and fibers, and liquid form ion exchangers for acid, base, or VOCs gases removal by providing a filtration assembly for the filtration of chemical contaminants and particulates from an air or gas stream, the assembly having a low pressure-drop structure. The filtration assembly includes a low-pressure drop chemical filter, a low-pressure drop particulate filter, and an air transportation device, such as a fan or blower, all combined in a housing.

摘要: A contaminant-removal filter for removing basic contaminants from a gas stream, such as air. The filter has a porous or fibrous body that includes a plurality of passages extending from a first, inlet face to a second, outlet face, the passages providing flow paths. The body has an acidic material, such as citric acid, and at least one of a preservative and a stabilizer impregnated throughout the substrate. The filter is free of any humectants.

摘要: An adsorbent article having a base body or matrix onto which is applied an adsorptive coating. The body or matrix can be a honeycomb matrix or structure having a plurality of cells defining a plurality of passages extending through the body. The adsorptive coating comprises an adsorptive media, such as activated carbon or ion exchange resin, that is bound by a polymeric adhesive or resin. A reactant material is preferably included in the adsorptive coating. The adsorbent article has a minimal pressure loss therethrough.

摘要: A contaminant-removal filter for removing carbonyl-containing compounds from a gas stream, such as air. Examples of common airborne carbonyl-containing compounds include ketones, including acetone, and aldehydes, including formaldehyde. The filter has a porous or fibrous body that includes a plurality of passages extending from a first, inlet face to a second, outlet face, the passages providing flow paths. The body has a reactant material impregnated throughout the substrate. The reactant material is a sulfite, bisulfite, oxidant, or derivative of ammonia, specifically high molecular weight and stable amines. Strong alkali (basic) materials are particularly suitable for aldehyde removal. The filter is free of any humectants.

摘要: A duct for passage of air therethough; one particular use for the duct is as a passage for intake air for a vehicle engine. The duct has an interior, adsorptive region that is adapted to remove contaminants from the air stream passing therethrough. The adsorptive region includes adsorptive material such as carbon (usually activated carbon), activated alumina, zeolites, metal oxides or ion exchange resin. The duct inhibits diffusion of uncombusted gasoline back through the duct from the engine, after the engine has been shut off.
