    摘要: A process for fabricating an electrophotographic imaging member including providing a substrate coated with at least one photoconductive layer, applying a coating composition to the photoconductive layer by dip coating to form a wet layer, the coating composition comprising finely divided amorphous silica particles, a dihydroxy amine charge transport material, an aryl charge transport material that is different from the dihydroxy amine charge transport material, a crosslinkable polyamide containing methoxy groups attached to amide nitrogen atoms and a crosslinking catalyst, at least one solvent for the hydroxy amine charge transport material, aryl charge transport material that is different from the dihydroxy amine charge transport material and the crosslinkable polyamide, and heating the wet layer to crosslink the polyamide and remove the solvent to form a dry layer in which the dihydroxy amine charge transport material and the aryl charge transport material are molecularly dispersed in a crosslinked polyamide matrix.

    摘要: A multi-layer optical recording member for use with a recording laser for optical recording and retrieving information thereon, as well as a method of fabricating and using said member is described. The optical recording member comprises in sequential order a structural substrate, a thermally degradable polymer layer, a light absorbing recording layer, a thermally degradable polymer dielectric layer, and a reflective layer. The substrate and the thermally degradable polymer layers are stable under ambient light and temperature conditions and substantially transparent to the recording and reading optical radiation. The combined thicknesses of the light absorbing layer and the dielectric layer are such as to provide anti-reflecting conditionsat the recording wavelength and optical contrast between marked and unmarked areas at the reading wavelength. The optical recording member may be used with a single laser source for both recording and reading. Upon exposure to recording radiation, the portion of the light absorbing layer exposed is heated by the absorbed energy which in turn heats adjacent areas of both thermally degradable polymer layers to a level where at least some polymer decomposition with a consequent evolution of gaseous decomposition products occurs resulting in the formation of a hole in the exposed area of the heat absorbing layer.

    摘要: There is described a method for forming a photoreceptor wherein a substrate having a thin electrically insulating oxide film on a surface thereof is subjected to an electroless deposition step from a selenious acid solution whereby the oxide film is dissolved and a thin selenium layer is formed on the substrate. In one embodiment, a relatively thick photoconductive insulating layer comprising selenium or alloys thereof is deposited by vacuum evaporation over the previously electrolessly deposited selenium layer. In another embodiment, a layer of a charge carrier transport material is deposited over the selenium layer. In a preferred embodiment of the invention, an oxide-free substrate is initially subjected to an electrochemical oxidation step in an alkaline medium to form a thin electrically insulating oxide film on the surface thereof.
