摘要: An exhaust system includes an electrically conductive shell defining an exhaust pathway. The shell includes a tapered portion that tapers inward toward a longitudinal axis of the shell to define a narrowing region of the exhaust pathway. The exhaust system further includes an ionization assembly and an electrical subsystem that applies an electrical potential difference between the shell and at least a portion of the ionization assembly located within the exhaust pathway. The ionization assembly includes a support arm located within the exhaust pathway that extends into the narrowing region of the exhaust pathway. The ionization assembly further includes a plurality of electrically conductive discs mounted on and supported by the support arm. The ionization assembly is electrically insulated from the shell by an electrically insulating support structure.

To ensure effective filtration without limitation of the mobility of the bellows, the present invention provides for at least one filter element to be fixed at a bellows inner flange of a bellows corrugation in a positive-locking manner.

摘要: The present invention generally relates to methods and apparatus for use in exhaust manifold assemblies of large diesel engines, such as ships, locomotives and the like. In one aspect, a screen for use in an exhaust manifold assembly is provided. The screen includes a plate formed in a concave shape. The plate has a plurality of apertures and a plurality of radially oriented closed slots formed therein. The screen further includes a band on an outer perimeter of the plate. In another aspect, a reducer assembly for use in an exhaust manifold assembly is provided. In yet a further aspect, a method of using a screen in an exhaust manifold assembly is provided.

摘要: A filter assembly useful in collecting the particulate matter from a diesel engine onto surfaces on which the combustion vapors are condensed, and thereafter exposing the exhaust stream to catalytic reaction, is defined by a split cavity in which a row of kinematic filter discs is received. The filter discs are stacked in the assembly in a progressively finer opening size, each filter disc making an intimate contact with the assembly housing for cooling. In this manner condensation onto the discs is promoted to provide a liquid bed on which the particulate matter is trapped. The exhaust flow then passes through a coiled, corrugated catalyst surface for further reaction. A set of spring loaded bypass conduits is provided to allow diesel operation at such times when the filter plates and the catalytic coiled surface are clogged. The filter plates and the coiled catalyst strip can then be periodically removed and cleaned, for continued operation.
