Abstract:
Embodiments described herein relate to managing access to 5G cellular baseband resources for 5G-capable wireless devices. A wireless device can monitor application workloads by analyzing communication network performance requirements for a given application in-use or launching for future use along with system-level indications of overall device usage, battery level, and mobility status to determine whether access to 5G cellular baseband resources is recommended for an application. A 5G cellular baseband resource recommendation is provided for an application indicating a level of bandwidth in current use or expected for future use as well as a confidence metric in the bandwidth level indication. The 5G cellular baseband resource recommendation is used with additional device criteria to determine whether access to one or more 5G radio frequency bands is allowed.
Abstract:
An apparatus, system, and method optimize a manner in which carrier aggregation (CA) is used. The apparatus comprises a transceiver and processor. The transceiver is used to establish a connection with a network including first and second network components used for a CA functionality. The processor implicitly deactivates the SCell while the CA functionality is enabled by the network by determining that the CA functionality is enabled by the network, determining that the SCell is one of out-of-service (OoS) and effectively OoS when the second network component is reachable by the apparatus and a connection parameter with the second network component is below a predetermined threshold, transmitting a channel quality indicator (CQI) value of zero for the SCell to the first network component to implicitly deactivate the SCell, and utilizing a low power consumption state where monitoring of the SCell is terminated.

Abstract:
A device, system, and method persists network registration rejection causes. The method is performed at a device connected to a network and comprising a temporary memory and a persistent memory, the device using the data stored in the temporary memory when performing network registration operations. When a power cycle is detected, the method includes determining whether there is persistent data in the persistent memory for a first attempt to register with the network prior to the power cycle, the persistent data including a rejection cause for the first attempt. When there is the persistent data in the persistent memory, the method includes determining whether the persistent data is valid for a second attempt to register with the network after the power cycle. When the persistent data is valid, the method includes generating and storing cause data based on the persistent data in the temporary memory prior to the second attempt.
Abstract:
Described herein are systems and methods for improved transitions continuity between wireless protocol states. One embodiment relates to a method including, at a user equipment (“UE”), establishing a connection to a first wireless network in accordance with a first wireless communication protocol, wherein the first wireless communication protocol is used for voice communications and data communications between the UE and the first wireless network, receiving a user request to disable the voice communications with the first wireless network, registering for voice communications with a second wireless network in accordance with a second wireless communication protocol, and maintaining the connection to the first wireless network to continue data communications between the UE and the first wireless network, wherein the UE simultaneously operates in the first wireless communication protocol and the second wireless communication protocol.
